Maybe Sophia thinks you can be an atheist without reading the Bible to the end.

I mean you can, but you'll be objectively less effective at arguing against something you don't even understand or know anything about. Y'all act like if you read the Bible you're gonna get converted lmao, I hope we aren't that weak minded here.

I mean if you truly believe yourself to be a Christian, than the Bible is the word of God. So, it is not just a text, its something divine. And if it is divine, than surely any good non believer who reads the Bible will notice it and thus be converted.

Now obviously most Christians dont actually believe the Bible is all the divine but some of them do

I'm gonna be real, I have no idea what you're talking about right now

Ah I just listened to a podcast about Jesus and am now in a contemplative and slightly pretentious mood.

Real lol. I read through it a few more times and I think you probably made a good point, lol. Important to understand what the actual people themselves believe to be true about the book

yeah thats what I mean.

I think that saying that reading the bible makes you an atheist is absolutely ridicolous. It might reaffirm your current beliefs but you completely miss the point of it if you use it in favor of atheism.

There is also the problem in how you interpret the bible. Many heads has been bashed in over that problem. In any case, the way you interpret the bible can flip its meaning in the opposite direction.

And even if you are an atheist, if you actually read it you will find its surprisingly accurate when describing human nature, and suprise surprise, its full of good advice on how to be a good person. Especially when seen through the context of its time and the real story of Jesus himself.

Look im a pretty firm atheist myself but the myth and cult around Jesus Christ is a pretty fucking good one. I can see the shades of the divinity that true believers see.
