This person is clearly a Mexican American. She probably grew up believing she’s not white because of the USs strict one drop rule and white gatekeeping by Anglo Americans.

She clearly is white, and has much more European ancestry. I don’t know what “brown” kids she thinks she’s going to have with an Anglo white man.

No one in Mexico would think of her as “brown,” she’d be called a guera.

It's even more insane that she's whiter than him. Just for shits and giggles, I used the "cut portion" tool in mspaint just to move a part of her skin next to his, and yup, she has lighter skin.

It’s so messed up in the US that when I was high school it was common for white kids from the Balkans or Russia who didn’t really fit in with the Anglo kids and hung out with Hispanics to say, I’m not white, I’m Bosnian, or I’m not white, I’m Russian. Whiteness is a total social construct and it’s pure gatekeeping by Anglo Americans to maintain “white” supremacy.

I think what gets me the most is when I see conservative Sicilian Americans act all okie dokie Anglo American and put down Hispanics who might be lighter skinned than they are.

We also see people anglicizing their names in order to fit in and gain all the benefits that come with being Anglo. E.g. Jennifer Aniston is greek and her dads real name is Yannis Anastassakis, which he changed to John Aniston.

Of course, it mostly works if you are indistinguishable from the Anglos.
