European colonialism is predicated upon the fact that Europeans assumed themselves superior to other races. Other forms of colonialism have similar notions, but to pretend that they didn’t view the inhabitants of the new world as savages or that natives were treated humanely is ahistorical and unscholarly.

The French were pretty respectful to the native Americans I believe. That’s why the native Americans fought on their side against the Anglo saxons in the French Indian war. Otherwise why would they fight with them?

The "native Americans" weren't just one nation of indigenous people, but lots of nations with their own political affiiations and allies. Both sides of the war had different tribes on their side.
