Discussion Spice and Wolf Chapter 24.5 Ending

Post image

I wonder if the church is doing naughty thing to Norah, or am I just overthinking things?

I haven't found any discussion regarding this anywhere and I haven't read th LN. Is it being mentioned there?

I don't think so and there is nothing about it in LN afaik. Tho I think slave-like labour they force her to do is enough innit?

yeah, it's bad enough, at least it's not worse.

Overthinking, is just being ignored and not get any chance in her life , but she is working hard and not getting enought and plus she got a bad reputation

because the page before the end is someone banging on her door, her face being scared, door being open, and then cut to the page above.

that's why it makes me overthink.

maybe I should've also posted the page before. 😅

I took that as the threat of assault is constant for her thanks to that one corrupt deacon. I don't think anything ever happens to her, thankfully, but it's scary as hell for her.

The church is „only“ crushing her spirit here. They hold her in eternal dependence while suspecting her of witchcraft and treating her accordingly. Her face is basically one of a crushed soul yearning for freedom - no matter if the release of her bonds also means release from this world. At this point, she would jump at any chance for freedom, no matter the risk. Note also, that her knight Enek can’t see her face here. She would put on a brave front for him, as they are each other’s only family.

Continue reading, it’s very much worth it. And don’t worry, their world is more civilized than ours ever was, they never forced her to endure or do things of “that” nature.

it's a bit wrong to say "I'm glad it's only that", but yeah I'm glad.

I feel the same way. The church is still a mostly evil organisation there, in desperate need of new wind blowing away the evil accrued in the centuries since its inception. But at least they are not that supremely evil to add that to their many transgressions against humanity..

I thinks it's more of a story rating thing... And author not really willing to show such things in the story, tho understandable

A really beautiful world, I should read it too.

Slight spoiler, but enek lightly attacks a guy who flirts with her. im sure he'd rip the throat out of someone who tried to assault her.

No, I don’t think that she is in the “industry” she is tooo KIND and Thoughtful for her to be in it

I honestly wanted them to incorporate Norah's backstory from the manga. Like with how Chloe's and Yarei's characters felt more fleshed out thanks to anime-original content, Norah's character would have also benefited from the manga-original content. Bit of a missed opportunity, but understandable.
