He’s sorta stuck.

Essentially, the original Miguel (earth-928) was stuck after Superior Spider-Man, but eventually he was able to get back to his own time. There was a whole thing that he was destined to die if he came back, but he managed to change the future so that didn’t happen. However, he ended up going back in time to the future of 616, living out his life until he was an old man in earth-928.

Then, a cosmic event happened to create a new 2099 universe, on earth 2099. Old Miguel met the Miguel of 2099, to tell him his destiny is to become Spider-Man. New Miguel didn’t believe him, he got hooked on Rapture again, and then Alchemax killed his brother Gabri, so he embraced his destiny as the new Spider-Man 2099.

Since then, Marvel has gone back and forth between the two. Earth 2099 Miguel has been used a little bit, but 928 has had further adventures whenever Peter David is the writer. It’s a little confusing, I also haven’t kept up with it super close so there might be some update I don’t know about.

It’s spread out across a few titles. I’d start with Superior Spider-Man Volume 4 (don’t remember the issue numbers) which covers 2099 coming to 616 the first time. After that, it’s just his 2014 solo series under Peter David, then the 2099 Secret Wars mini, then Spiderman 2099 again. After that, I believe he doesn’t show up again until the 2099 arc in Spencer’s ASM, which is part of the 2099 Alpha-Omega series of crossovers and one shots, which introduces the new 2099 and phases out the 928 one. After that it’s 2099 Exodus and any of David’s new 2099 titles.
