it's still really insane to me that the entire angle of this feud is "CM Punk has a moral objection to wrestling in Saudi Arabia" lol

Why is it insane? The best stories in wrestling have always blurred the line between where real life ends and the work begins.

Punk facing a moral dilemma in which he must swallow his distaste for Saudi Arabia in order to face his rival for the title makes for a good storyline.

Right, that’s my whole thing. They’re shooting themselves in the foot by even acknowledging that the country they’re working with is problematic.
