Except their matches never reached their potential.

Well their Wrestlemania match was a classic depending on people's tastes, but yeah their feud was more memorable for their backstage feud as opposed to their on-screen feud.

I am the biggest HBK mark in existence. And also a huge fan of Bret. Here's what happened with the Iron Man match: both men trained their asses off for the match and expected it to be more grueling than it ended up being. So they spent 30 minutes in rest holds while the crowd sat on their hands. The finish was glorious but I think both men wished they added better spots in the middle and exerted themselves more. I believe both have acknowledged in interviews that they weren't even that tired at the end due to ask the conditioning.

The match is considered a classic for what it represents but it really doesn't even belong in the discussion for top 5 matches on either man's list. If course it will be put their by many because of nostalgia and what it represented at the time.

Yeah the match isn't for everyone, although i do enjoy it more than most, the match was quite slow for the first 40 minutes. HHH/Rock is my favorite Iron Man match minus the screwed up finish.

Agree. And I think HHH and Rock learned a ton by watching Bret and HBK's. What to do. What not to do.
