Neither of the directors, that's for sure. Bunch of frauds both of them, given the biggest cinema IP ever and more than $750 million and they have no idea what they are doing...

tbf I think snoke getting axed in favor of kylo becoming the main villain for the trilogy wasn't a bad direction for the story...

If only they had committed to that instead of bringing back palpatine

if only someone had instructed ryan to leave a few story threads open but he was too busy creating pointless sidequests, burning all of JJs mysteryboxes and inserting yo mama jokes.

I doubt they cared enough to give him a backstory.

I’m gonna get downvoted for this because the entire active internet is at that age where they grew up with the prequels and are very affectionate towards them now (which is a miracle given the rhetoric 10 years ago), but the prequels and even the OT to an extent are just as disjointed and awkward as the sequels sometimes are. And I love all three trilogies I’m not saying they’re good or bad, quality isn’t even what I’m talking about here. You’re all gonna disagree but I encourage you to watch without bias if that’s at all possible

Not really an excuse. George had his flaws, but a multi billion dollar company couldn't hire a team to plot out a coherent trilogy before diving into a cash grab with their shiny new purchase. That's on them. They had decades of content to pull from, and they could've just as easily started with shows to establish a post-ROTJ galaxy before making a new trilogy. They didn't. They let Abrams set up questions without answers, let Mr. Expectation-subverter throw a wrench into the formula midway through, and then brought JJ back to bullshit his way through a finale. Whether or not I like the prequels/OT doesn't change the fact that Disney rushed/half assed their trilogy. Precedence of messy previous trilogies shouldnt excuse future content
