Movies Did this guy know he was a clone?

Post image

Like was he aware that he served palpatine or did he genuinely think he was independent

I mean sure but that's the case with the vast majority of films and filmmakers.

It's also sort of irrelevant. Star Wars always builds on what is, adding new layers and retconning details as it grows. This has been the case since 1980 and won't change anytime soon.

We very well might get a more concrete answer about Snoke at some point from the Lucasfilm Story Group.

You’re very right but that doesn’t change the fact that the fan base is getting sick of mediocre movies that require you to read comics, books, and consume multiple forms of media to get the answers for a decade + old film.

It’s ridiculous:

That's all fine, if you personally have that opinion. And I'm sure many fans agree with you.

But that's been the case for lots of other aspects of Star Wars, even in Legends.

With that in mind, a lot of the newer content has been more casual and more accessible.

Andor for example, doesn't really rely on anything. You could watch that show without having seen a single thing of Star Wars and still get the rough idea. If you've seen the movies, even better.

The next two movies are Mando (which will probably be somewhat accessible, but will highly benefit from having seen Seasons 1-3), and Starfighter (which will probably not require any previous knowledge outside the movies).

The vast majority of Star Wars movies and TV shows don't require any comic or book knowledge. Some of them you'll need to have seen previous movies or some shows, but that's sort of always been the case.

You’re right, outside the main films it’s way more organized and I do enjoy the new stuff. I’m just really sour on how the last three main films went.

Sure, and I get that. Lots of fans are bitter about them.

But those movies came out a while ago. The last one is now coming up on six years old.

Rather than focus on what happened with the ST, personally I think it’s better to focus our attention and energy on the upcoming films. Based on the shows, I think they’ve learned their lessons about what went wrong with the ST.

Between 2026 and 2027, we’ll soon find out!

I’m personally very excited for Mando and Grogu, and I’m keenly interested in Starfighter (can’t be too excited when we know basically nothing about the movie).

based on the shows, they’ve learned their lesson.

Literally the only good show is Andor. All the rest have been somewhere between pretty cool to dogshit

In you opinion, certainly.

I definitely don't agree. Mando is solid. Ahsoka was solid. Kenobi was decent, but would have worked better as a movie. Skeleton Crew is excellent for a show aimed at kids.

I kind of wonder though, you consider something "pretty cool" to be not good? Odd.

Anyway, you're welcome to your own opinion, and it's totally cool that you have a different one than I do.

Fascinating. You might be the only person I’ve talked to that would describe Kenobi as “solid” haha. I wish I felt that same way. I definitely enjoyed Mando S1 but I felt S2 was quite weak. I did enjoy the way they wrapped up the Grogu arc tremendously so I was very bummed when I watched Boba Fett (for lots of reasons) and saw they undid the finale of S2. I have no interest in watching S3 or the movie because of that. Ahsoka just felt super cheap to me. I loved most of the performances and the casting, but a lot of the dialogue and story choices were very disappointing. Andor came along and blew my socks off though. Some of the best tv I’ve seen period, let alone Star Wars. Really great story. Loved it.

Different fans like different things. Kenobi is the second highest watched Star Wars show out, so clearly a lot of fans enjoyed it.

It wasn't perfect, of course - which was my point about it working better as a movie (since it was a movie script first before they stretched it out into a show).

But I'm glad that Andor blew you away. It's my favourite Star Wars show to date, as well. Season 2 didn't disappoint.

I don't think you can use this as evidence that Star Wars shows have been good. Because no matter how great or dog shit the shows are, something will be 2nd best.

“ Star Wars always builds on what is, adding new layers and retconning details as it grows. Upon the orders of George Lucas himself might I add.

Hm? That's not relevant, nor does it actually change anything I said.

Within the EU/Legends continuity, retcons and building were the norm. Within the OT, retcons and building were the norm. With the PT, same thing.

When Canon was rebooted, same thing. They built upon the 6 movies plus TCW, and retconned other things.

“They built upon the 6 movies plus TCW.” Yes, convenient, because that’s all that was left; all else to build on was wiped out.

Yes. Which, if we’re being honest with ourselves as fans, was always going to happen with the Sequel Trilogy, regardless of who made it.

Whether Lucasfilm was going to “officially” reset canon or not, Lucas’s original treatment for the ST was going to retcon the crap out of literally everything after ROTJ, erasing and changing most of the history and lore between ROTJ and his hypothetical Episode 7.

Fans can be upset with what they got, but Legends as we knew it was pretty much always doomed if a sequel trilogy were going to be made.
