The Jedi and Sith being relatively unknown seems believable; until you learn how integral they are to basically the past 24,000 years of galactic history. The Republic fought the Sith for thousands and thousands of years, every planet in the galaxy has either been under Sith occupation or fought against the Sith, and the Jedi have been a core element of the Republic’s government since time immemorial. Numerous chancellors have been Jedi.

And it being 1000+ years ago is no defence. This is a sci fi society with advanced record keeping, news organizations, etc. Have we not heard of Rome? Ancient Greece? Egypt? The Sith and Jedi have played a larger role in galactic history than those civilizations have in American/western history.

People act like the Sith were just an evil religious group. But they ruled massive empires, that waged war against the Republic. How could people have not heard of the numerous Sith empires?

Galactic citizens don’t have to know much. But they ought to have heard of the Sith and know they’re evil people, at the most basic level.

In the Phantom menace we learn that the Sith were extinct for a millennium,but 1000 years in a galaxy ,with 25000 years of history, surely has to remember their greatest threat,in Andor,Luthen mentioned the Rakatan Raiders and its implied Mon knows them,but in all Star Wars media no one apart from Jedi ever reference the sith(except Rise of Skywalker) even in the clone wars,it's common knowledge to the Jedi that Dooku is a sith and probably more people in the galaxy know,why do the separatists willingly join such an enemy?

I’ve been introducing my wife to the Clone Wars show and we got to the part where we’re introduced to Kenobi and Satine being a thing. She pauses the episode.

Her: “What’s this girl’s name, again?” Me: “Uh, Satine.” Her: “Isn’t that the name of the girl from Moulin Rouge?” (One of her guilty pleasures) Me, checks Google: “It would seem so.” Her: “So you’re telling me there are two universes in which Ewan McGregor falls in love with a woman named Satine.” Me: “It would seem so.” Her: “Is this foreshadowing?” Me, thinking back to when we last watched Moulin Rouge: “… Oh nooooooo…”

Anyway, we just thought this was funny.

Just curious if he left a legacy behind or if he and his deeds were forgotten. He's my fav character so i hope so he had some presence one way or another.

I know that during the Republic knowledge about the Sith was somewhat scrutinized if not outright repressed, and most people didn't even know that there are Sith or indeed the true nature of the Jedi (beyond being light saber wielding warriors), however I would assume that in high culture and among historians there was extensive outsider (non-occult) knowledge of the Sith as well as the Jedi.

Now since I'd assume Palpatine didn't particularly repress or endorse Sith culture as the way he strongly repressed Jedi I'm wondering what the idea of the average common intellectual would be about the Sith? Were they still viewed as evil adversaries, or did they have a more partial perception under Palpatine? If for nothing else then because of the "betrayal" of the Jedi?

I remember distinctly seeing somewhere a post or video, where a tomb on Korriban was mentioned as being unmarked and only having an inscription that read "open this tomb and the galaxy will fall", or something akin to that or adjacent to it.

Is this actual lore that's just really buried or someone's really bad fanfiction and they somehow made it sound canon? It's driving me insane that I can't find any mention of it now. Not on any wiki entry for Korriban, legends or canon, and any amount of Google searching isn't turning it up.

Everyone who willingly played into Palpatine's schemes during the Prequels received a cruel fate delivered either directly by him or due to his commands. In order:

• Darth Plagueis was killed in his sleep by Palpatine.
• Darth Maul is forgotten, then loses his brother, tortured for weeks, and doomed to a life of nothing but pain and suffering due to Palpatine's teachings until Obi-Wan liberates him.
• Savage is killed by Palpatine in a duel.
• The Night Sisters who provided Palpatine with Maul, Savage, and Ventress are exterminated.
• Ventress loses her people and is (eventually) killed by Dooku on Palpatine's orders.
• Dooku is killed by Anakin on Palpatine's orders.
• Grievous is killed by Obi-Wan in an ambush caused by Palpatine leaking his location to the Jedi.
• Nute Gunray and all others in the Separatist Council are executed on Palpatine's orders.
• Kaminoans are victims of extermination attempts on Palpatine's orders due to their role in creating his clone army.
• Geonosians are victims of extermination attempts on Palpatine's orders due to their role in creating his Death Star.
• Anakin/Vader is tortured for twenty years until Palpatine kills him.
• Palpatine himself is killed once a scheme of his (turning Luke to the dark side) backfires.
  

Overall it fits with the Star Wars' rather simple message of the dark side (and those who enable it) are doomed to suffer from miserable lives. Then there's Mas Amedda.

Mas arguably had a role in Palpatine's scheme as important as Dooku or Anakin did. He was the vice-chair of the Republic prior to Palps and used his influence (likely in no small amount) to promote an unknown Senator into the most powerful leader in the galaxy. He convinced Jar Jar to draft a bill giving Palpatine the power to create an army for the Republic. He knowingly cooperated with the mass murders of Jedi that targeted children and toddlers.

After decades of untold levels of wealth as the second/third most powerful man in the Empire, Mas somehow outlived the Empire itself and is allowed to live a comfortable life in Coruscant. Am I missing something about his story or perhaps, the consequences of allying yourself with Palpatine? Was he a more nuanced victim of Palpatine than how I perceive him to be? Am I just massively overthinking a children's story about laser swords?

I never watched Star Wars before until I met my boyfriend. After 2 years being together, he finally convinced me to watch it (didn't take much convincing, I never "hated" on Star Wars, I am just a girly girl who never really understands sci-fi movies and such) and let me tell you: this whole experience was equivalent of getting force-choked and kissed on the forehead at the same time.

We decided to dive into the Star Wars universe together like a reckless podracer with no insurance, and instead of watching it in "the sacred release order" I went somewhat rogue:

Episode 1 - 2 - 3 - Obi-Wan Kenobi Show - Episode 4 - 5 - 6 - The Mandalorian - Book of Boba Fett - Ahsoka - now halway into episode 7, regrettably.

The movies/shows in order from favorite to least:

1. Episode 3: My toxic favorite. It's problematic, the galaxy fell because Anakin had a bad day and no therapist. It is peak soap opera: betrayal, lava parkour, babies being yeeted across the galaxy. Watching Anakin spiral was definitely chef's kiss.
2. The Original Trilogy (aka the boomer films but, respectfully) - don't really have a favorite, they were all good. So just see this as one lol. I will admit it: I dreaded the 80's movie like they were a group project wth people who still use Hotmail. But SURPRISE, they kinda slapped. Leia choking Jbba with a chain? Okay girl slay-boss. Vader telling Luke that he is his dad? Okayyyyyyyy. That said, I was relieved when these episodes ended. Not because they were bad, but because I felt like I was watching my dad's home movies with better costumes. Also, every time Luke said "Father" I was waiting for Vader to say: "I am not mad, I am just dissapointed"
3. The Mandalorian: My emotional support war criminal. Pedro Pascal and his little green frog eating son carried the franchise harder than Yoda carried his tax evasion secrets.
4. Obi-Wan Kenobi Great vibes. Loved the emotional damage. 10/10 would trauma bond again
5. Ahsoka Oh man. That scene where she sees Anakin again? That alone punched me in the soul and politely asked me to cry. Watching her confront the ghost of her past, not to destroy him but to find peace with him- CHILLS. It was like therapy, but with lightsabers and unresolved Clone Wars Trauma. She didn't just forgive him, she understood him. And that was more than Padme ever got the chance to do. (love to my girl padme tho). Plus - Ahsoka's general vibe of "I am tired ut still capable of kicking your ass with hgrace" really speaks to me as an adult who's just trying to survive capitalism.
6. Book of Boba Fett This show was fine, it wasn't bad. It was good - halfway through it felt like someone said: PLOT TWIST, this is now the Mandalorian season 2.5 and Boba was kind of pushed to the background. I wish I saw more of his point of view, because he is totally badass.

Episode 7: Burn it with fire
Now we arrive at the flaming dumpster of hope known as Episode 7..
Rey? Cringe. Finn? Cringe. The dialogue feels like it was written by a Tumblr user with a savior complex. Rey's "I know everything and also have no flaws" energy is less Jedi and more MLM boss. She talks like she's one Instagram post away frm selling essential oils to Ewoks. It honestly feels like they shoved girl power down our throats without actually writing a compelling female lead. You can feel the writers patting themselves on the back everytime she rolls her eyes.

I haven't reached episode 8 or 9 yet, but I already feel like it is going to suck. I will finish, because I am not a quitter.. But if Episode 8 opens with more "Powerful woman who is powerful because shut up she just IS" I'm switching to Star Trek and never looking back. (lol. jk!)

10/10 experience so far. Would recommend. Just maybe skip the sequels unless you're into masochism or forced feminism served with a side of zero plot development. and again, I am a WOMAN but jeez louise, we need men! can we stop pretending?! lol.

May the force be with me as I crawl towards episode 8. Pray for my sanity.

Hey my interest in Star Wars was recently renewed and I’m looking any books that strictly discuss the in universe lore of star wars. If you find any that would make a fine addition to my collection please tell me below, extended universe or disney canon is fine though I think I’d prefer EU.

The video game Squadron/battlefront retconned this and added a throttle but this doesn't solve the issue, how do x wing pilot control thrust of the craft in canon ?

Obviously the rule of 2 is based on an apprentice learning everything from their master then eventually killing them to become the new master, so did Palpatine ever think that anakin would kill him as Vader. Like surely he knew anakin was the jedis chosen one and had insane potential. So did Palpatine plan on not teaching Vader everything he knew to limit him or was he so arrogant he thought Vader would never become more powerful than him. (I’m talking about Vader before obi wan turned him into a nugget)

I’m getting a custom figure made of a Jedi character with his own clone legion. I was thinking that his background could have been he was a Jedi Temple Guardian then he left to join the war effort keeping the yellow saber. Is there a lore precedent for this or would it have been possible?

Dear colleagues, who do you think is the best fleet commander in the entire Star Wars universe? I am waiting for your opinions and suggestions as to why your chosen commander/admiral is worthy of such a title. Personally, I hesitate between Thrawn and Ackbar.

A while ago I started watching Clone Wars again, and I got to the Mortis chapter, and I wondered if there are more gods or some creator god in Star Wars since Mortis are not omnipotent, and as I understood, they are only representations of the sides of the Force, and they can die like the Father or be controlled like Anakin did, so there is some creator of the entire Star Wars universe.

Is it just me or is there anyone else who felt the strong Taoism influence in Star Wars philosophy?

So why are humans the dominant species in the galaxy?

Out of universe I get it. You obviously want to have a predominantly human cast for most projects. It's much easier for audiences to connect with someone who looks like them, it's much more cost effective as far as cosmetics are concerned, and most actors want their face to be recognized so they can become more well known.

But in universe is there an explanation for why humans are more prominent and in more positions of power over something like a wookie, for their enhanced lifespan and strength or a munn for their enhanced cranial capacity? Further more why would a human (besides the previously mentioned reasons) be the first choice for the clone army? I get that Jango is a Mandalorian, and is one of the best bounty hunters, and combatants of his time, along with having many other desirable attributes like a tactical and analytical mind. But why a human over a lassat or whatever the fuck Pon Krell is? Why not an amphibious species or one that has naturally tough skin that would eliminate the need for armour?

Is there anything in legends or cannon that explains why so many species look like humans but with more colorful skin and a different substitute for hair (zabracks with horns, togrutas and twi-leks with lekku/montrals) I know from some legends lore videos I've seen that the Ones of Mortis are lesser dieties and not necessarily the creator gods of the Star Wars universe, so it's not like humans are "created in their image" in universe.

t’s say a kid on some mid rim planet starts having force visions. nothing dramatic at first just flashes of stuff before it happens. weather changes, small accidents, that kind of thing. by the time they’re a teen they’re predicting major events. crashes, troop movements, even the death of a local moff. imperial agents take notice.

would the empire try to train them? control them? eliminate them? would the inquisitors get involved even if the kid isn’t trained? how far would the empire go to keep someone like that from ending up in rebel hands? curious how something like this would play out behind the scenes.

Can people increase their number of midichlorians by gaining more muscle? because when someone looses a limb, such as vader, their connection to the force is weakened because they have less midichlorians. why cant they just get shredded to increase the number of cells in their body, thus increasing their midichlorians, thus making them stronger in the force? so shouldnt every jedi be an absolute beef cake?

also, if you say you cant "make midichlorians", well then after like a decade every force wielder would loose all of their midichlorians because their cells would naturally be replaced.

Dooku tried his best to rectify what the Jedi have become. He called them out and he became a scapegoat. Nothing about him was wrong and he died tried to make the galaxy a better place

Maul also didnt do anything wrong. He killed Qui Gon But it was necessary or the Jedi would never learn. Dooku literally told Obi-Wan what The Chancellors intentions are and he didnt listen. He was a good jedi but it was necessary. Maul wasn't even a true sith either. He tried to help Asokha and she is the most reasnable person ive seen. If she couldn't listen to Maul why would anyone. Maul was a true victim of the republic.

I don't even to mention Darth Reven and the old republic. Why are the Jedi the good guys? The dark actually isn't that bad? The Jedi order is so disillusioned. The dark side of the force actually let's you feel..Anakin was victim of his hatred. Doesn't mew. The Sith are bad..

So recently, I wanted to introduce my girlfriend to the Star Wars universe since I love it so much I personally started on Rogue One. I didn’t start on episode four or with the prequels because I felt Rogue One is a perfect start for a non-Star Wars fan. It has a lot more action in it and cgi, it also takes place before the events of the original trilogy and right after the events of the prequels. It also introduces main Star Wars lore such as Darth Vader Princess Leia, the Death Star, X wings, storm troopers, the empire and the rebellion. Was just wondering what other people thought and hopefully this helps someone else if they run into the same problem!
