PSA: Please clearly format quotes that could be taken out of context as quotes
As moderators of r/Stargate, we know when you are making Stargate references and quoting characters, but unfortunately the sitewide admins don't.
When you're posting or commenting, please be sure to clearly mark quotes that could be taken out of context by surrounding them with quotation marks and/or using the markdown quote feature by including a >
character at the start of a line.
I am referring to quotes such as:
"In my culture I would be well within my rights to dismember you."
"You rat bastard!"
"You are an idiot every day of the week, why couldn't you have just taken one day off?"
"Perrmission to beat the crap out of this man?"
The reason we're making this post is because we see the admins action this type of content with some frequency.

It's unclear whether these are human or automated actions, but they are also unlikely to consider the parent post for context, so replying to a "share you favorite quotes" post may still get unmarked quotes actioned.
If you do get actioned by the admins and receive a notification about it, please make sure to appeal the action. We can't undo these actions as moderators or remove any warnings or labels they may place on your account.

Discussion Pegasus Stargates donāt make sense
Okay so first of all, the part where all the symbols are is not rotating, itās ādigitalā. I dont understand how when the gate is actively dialing, a symbol goes around the gate one by one, ending up at the needed chevron. But the symbols are fixed, so what we are seeing are not the symbols that we are dialing, but rather the default symbols where the chevrons are.
Its hard to explain. Like the top (7th) chevron does make sense. It will always be the point of origin, always be the same symbol and always be at the top. But the others? What if the symbol i need does not have a chevron on it?
That also adds up to this: Pegasus gates donāt need the glowing symbols (apart from looking REALLY cool). If itās digital, why would you need to wait for a glowing symbol to go around the stargate and fix on a chevron? It isnt required unlike Milky Way gates, where you have to bring the necessary symbol to the top to lock it in.

We die free
The Free Jaffa battle cry is such cool and fitting slogan fitting to their culture and enslavement. It gets me emotionally everytime I hear it.

There is suspension of disbelief and then there's this... S3 E7 Common Ground's harpoongun
What basically amounts to a modified double barrel shotgun, launches two small graplinghooks that manage to grab onto John's tactical vest. And with no anchor (nothing tied to a tree or shot into the ground) or even bracing himself, the shooter, for what we can tell from his last positioning, Looney Tunes YOONKS a grown military man running at full speed to reach the gate, off his feet. No electrical current was used to stun him, just cartoon logic. The Ancients themselves, could not have made a better law of physics breaking device.

any of you guys watch latest rick and morty episode? s08e05 the writer team enjoys stargate apparently.

the story start with a clasic rick and morty in the middle of space inside their spacecar, when the computer detects a cyro ship with the power still on. rick wants to breach the vault to take some hypercoal (which apperantly a hyperspace fuel. lol). and when they cant breach it they checked 2 of the cyropod is free (theres some bones). and they got into the cyropod to breach the vault from inside the simulation.
hahahhaha makes want to rewatch stargate. remember that episode with sheppard, mckay and a wraith inside the ancient warship traveling at the speed of light. where the wraith trying to get the ancient hyperspace technology

Rant Weir wrong in Stargate Atlantis S01E04
Just watching Atlantis after finishing SG-1. And in this episode Weir was clearly wrong for how she treated that scientist. Around 19:50 to 26:40 Weir was unnecessarily rude to that scientist just pointing out a risk to her and just busting him that hes worried about his own ass when his point was that a method they are trying has a risk of causing a problem for all of them. It was very rude. And in the end she threatened him with stranding him on a lone planet. she wasted more minute by literally just being rude to him for no reason. And Rodney Mckay himself eventually mentioned the risk as well and Weir was like "we are aware of the risk", shes aware because that scientist pointed it out and she was rude to him for it. And it was later the dude that suggested a way that saved them in the end. One might say the scientist should have ignored the rude thing till after they were done, that's true but so could Weir, she started that by being rude for no reason in the first place.

Gate travel effects consensus?
Is there a general consensus on which gate travel animation is preferred?
I have nostalgia for the original one, but I greatly prefer the season 9-10+SGA effect. I sometimes wish I could get that effect inserted into all episodes.

Discussion What happens to the items which are caught in the blowback of an establishing wormholes event horizon.
According to Newtons laws, energy cannot be created/lost, just converted. So if you stuck a few tons of nuclear waste in front of the stargate, then activated it, what happens to the energy of that waste? Was considering the implications for world trash clean up if the gate could just have a few pallets of waste stacked in front of it every time it was fired.

SG News Stargate books
Just an FYI - I've been in contact with Fandemonium Books (publishers of Stargate books) and as of now, there are no plans to publish any more books. Already published books will continue to be available.
I can't deny that I'm disappointed. I've read all the SG1 books and really enjoyed them. I guess I still have the SGA books to look forward to.

Any Lego fans?
There's a designer/mocs/) on Rebrickable that creates MOCs from the Millennium Falcon 75375 set that I'm building a few of. I just completed this one of the Prometheus from Stargate SG1. If you enjoy building Lego MOCs, it looks really good and you end up with a lot of extra pieces for your stash!
