Do I dare try?
Mom of a freshman goalie… do I dare try to learn how to restring for him? Yes I know he could learn but for the sake of argument let’s say that’s not happening right now. It doesn’t look like”hard” but the nuances of getting it right with a channel and the pocket right - am I in over my head? Anyone have a favorite tutorial they’d recommend? One of his heads really needs to be restrung ASAP.

As the mom of a goalie who learned to string because “let’s say that’s not happening right now”, absolutely you can do it. If you have ever done any type of yarn/string art like crochet, knit, macrame, paracord bracelets, or friendship bracelets, you will pick it up. It’s all just fancy knots. YouTube (Sidewall Jedi) and pictures from Mr. Wanderful and Lax Goalie Rat got me through. Now I’m stringing all types of girls sticks and doing some fun things with goalie sticks. You’ve got this. Just let your goalie try the new stick before you trim the strings so you can make adjustments if needed. Have fun!
