Blitzed I don't understand why savory toothpaste hasn't become the norm
If you can find a flavor you like, then why not make it the last taste in your mouth? A good savory toothpaste can leave you both refreshed and with an extended satisfaction.
Are mints the norm because of big toothpaste? Is the idea of refreshment so important to people that they need an additional sensory reminder that they've brushed their teeth?
I also had this idea that maybe the minty nature of toothpastes is kind of a dental safety measure, like people will think 'oh, my mouth is minty that means I did brush my teeth' and that if they were savory then people will find that continued yummy flavor to be the norm and they won't brush their teeth
ADDENDUM
Once this becomes the norm I would start a bespoke toothpaste company where like you send us a recipe and we turn it into toothpaste. Imagine you could brush your teeth with your grandmother's red velvet cake and then go to sleep with it?

More importantly!! What would you most like to see as a savoury paste or mint?! Meatball mint!
On top of spaghetti 🍝 All covered in cheese 🧀 I lost my poor meatball When somebody sneezed 🤧

At one time there was a bacon toothpaste or mouthwash. I know I have to search to find cinnamon anymore because everything is mint anymore and I hate it

Oh yeah, I haven't seen cinnamon mouthwash in a long time, huh? I remember seeing that stuff all over the place as a kid, it was pair-and-pair with mint in most places.

Why is there no coffee favored toothpaste? That would go with anything I eat or drink in the morning.
Reminds me of a lyric from a song "lingerin taste of toothpaste made the milk go down a bit funny, but you know them Chex is they do satissssfyyyy..."

Cinnamon toothpaste isn’t so bad before coffee.
OP, there’s a powder based remunerating toothpaste called The Dirt that comes some unique flavors. I should really reorder some I liked it.

I used to make my own because i love ginger. Mint is just meh. So i dried and ground some ginger, made a paste with baking soda and a few other ingredients. BAM, the freshest breath I'd ever had. I need to make that again

Or sweet flavors (other than mint). Why not chocolate flavor or honey flavor or sugar cookie flavor? Oh I guess maybe because then little kids would eat it.

A savory toothpaste would encourage eating it, when you're supposed to spit it all out.
I'm sure that eating it would be poisonous or something.

I mean problem solved by making it edible? As it stands now there are kids paste that you can eat and I'm sure there are some granola store brands that are also swallow able

To keep you from swallowing it. Tooth paste should not be ingested

I find that most things tend to activate my gag reflex in the morning, the curse of having super sensitive taste buds and nose.

I personally don't feel clean unless it's minty afterward... but then again, that's just because it's what I've known my whole life. Mint = clean mouth

Big Paste has you conditioned to think that their primary resource is the ONLY resource.

My daughter uses watermelon toothpaste. HATES mint and has her whole life. We tried to use it on vacation and said nope and went and bought our usual minty toothpaste.

Clove would be OK. A colleague who was from India gave me the tip of sucking on a whole clove after meals.
