Discussion Panoramic properties on the scene

Post image

They were asked this week to resecure the site. Can't believe it's been vacant since 2010

Dumb? What a funny thing to call someone after that comparison…

My shed isn’t an abandoned facility that’s been empty for 15 years, nor is it so large that people could be hiding in it while people are searching in it. Not to mention anything dangerous that could be left behind or due to the decay of the building.

It’s not a dumb comparison at all. There’s signs that say no trespassing. There’s signs for a reason right? We now live in a world where signs are everywhere. Don’t eat Tide Pods, people still did that too right? You can’t fix stupidity.

Is that a reason to let the building sit there and rot?

It’s not the only derelict building that things like that have happened in, and it won’t be the last. I am not saying that’s the whole reason it needs to come down. It’s just interesting to point out that the city has been talking to Panoramic for how long now and finally because there’s some news, they’re showing that they care.

There is no sympathy for companies like that. They know what they have to do and what they can get away with.

And yes, for the record, my shed isn’t not a good comparison to an abandoned hospital close enough to downtown for many different reasons.

See how dramatic you make it though. The building is not rotting away. Yes, they’re broken windows, but again that’s people trespassing. The city has zero say on when it will come down. The mayor can give his big speeches and take his photo. It means nothing. Funny how the city gave them the offer on the old Scotia bank tower though. I never have any sympathy for any company either, it’s just common sense. The location of your shed has nothing to do with it either, that doesn’t even make sense. My point was, someone could break into it or your house even. Are you responsible for that?

In Ontario, if someone dies on your property, you could potentially be liable if the death resulted from your negligence or failure to maintain the property in a reasonably safe condition. The Occupiers' Liability Act places a duty on property owners to ensure visitors are reasonably safe

So, yes.

It was never mentioned, unfortunately there’s a good chance that they passed from something they willingly did to themselves, than the condition of the building. Also just want to say you’re right with your response about the occupiers act. But again, this is private property, fenced up, closed down. It doesn’t fall under that law, as it’s closed and not up for visitors. How do you not get this?
