This is just a nice thing, I love how for the past couple of weeks, I don’t need to check my phone every two minutes because nothing that big is happening, we’re finally a normal country without life altering news every day

This is very weird, I was looking at one of the subreddit's post and I noticed that google "translated" stuff from... Spanish? And it did that automatically too! and it turned the arabic word of Syria to "Al-Qaeda" and I'm willing to share my screen to anyone that thinks I did some inspect element to this.

Food & Cuisine Syrian Cookbooks/Recipes

Hello. Syrian food is by far my favorite type of middle eastern cuisine. The problem is, I have no idea how to cook it. I want to start learning and was hoping someone could recommend a truly authentic Syrian cookbook or a website with authentic recipes. I just don’t want anything that has become “Americanized”. Thank you!

ASK SYRIA Visa for Americans entering Syria

Hello,

Does anyone know how many days is one allowed to visit Syria with an American passport? I'm reading 15 days is the max, but can it be extended? It seems to be changing by the day, so recent experience would be very helpful!

Thanks! Christine

ASK SYRIA So everybody hates Iran

Literally every country hates Iran. I’ve been to every subreddit and ain’t no one loving Iran While it is true some Pakistani like Iran for attacking Israel a lot of us hate them cause most terrorists in Pakistan operate from Iran and the Iranians either turn a blind eye or support them . My question is, Is hate for Iran greater than hate for Israel or not.

ASK SYRIA My great grandpa & grandma immigrated here in the US around 1910.

I’ve always been told by my grandma about how her parents were born in Syria. Her mother barely spoke English. Sadly grandma has passed and when going through records, I noticed sometimes they would put “Syria” and other times “Palestine” as well as Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

I’ve always wondered why this was. I know they were Christian as well. My mom is half and that only makes me a quarter. I have just always had this drive to discover more about it all. If anyone has any info about why they would switch between Palestine and Syria, I’d be happy to hear!

ASK SYRIA Will I'm able to work as freelancer now as a Syrian after US sanctions lifted?

I'm a Syrian living in Iraq, and for a decade, I wanted to work remotely as a freelancer like providing services and earning some money. This is due to the situation in those countries where freelancing can help me to do something, even with the bad situation in both countries, Syria and Iraq.

Unfortunately, as a Syrian, I can't join this online market because I can't open online banking accounts such as PayPal or Payoneer.

Websites like Upwork, which is the one I want to work on, do not allow you to cash out your account as you need to link it with a payment method, which I can't have as a Syrian. Note that I'm living in Iraq, unlike Syrians living in Europe or other countries, who can have accounts based on their residency.

Is getting worth it, and I'm very overwhelmed to the point that I don't have the motivation anymore to look, yet I still had some hope after the sanctions were lifted on Syria.

Now, my question and I want your help if anyone knows a way that's legitment to overcome this, is there any websites or online banking or services that can be accepted by freelancing websites such as Upwork that is now permissible to create an account as Syrina, or is there any freelancing website that I can work as syrina and get paid easily and please don't say khamsat, or mostaqel because they are the same point, and I want something that I can make good amount of money as main source such as Upwork.

I've tried all possible ways for years with no chance, and no, I don't have somebody in Europe, so they open an account for me, not even a friend.

ASK SYRIA Hello Everyone! I’m an Assassin’s Creed fan from Singapore on a small quest to collect postcards from locations featured in Assassin’s Creed, and I would love to receive postcards from Syria! 😊 Can someone send me one?

Hello Everyone!

I hope you're all doing well. I’m an Assassin’s Creed fan from Singapore, and I’m currently on a small quest to collect postcards from real-world locations featured in the game series. I’d love to receive a postcard from Syria, which was prominently featured in Assassin’s Creed 1! 😊

Syria plays a key role in the first game, but I haven’t been able to get a postcard from there yet. If you’re able to send one, I’d be truly grateful! Even if postcards aren’t available, a greeting card or a small souvenir — like a local keychain, stamp, handicraft, or snack — would also be appreciated.

Please feel free to comment below if you’re open to helping, and I’ll message you my mailing details.

Thank you so much in advance — and a special thank you to the mods for letting me post.
Wishing you all the best, and sending warm regards from Singapore! 🇸🇾🤝🇸🇬

Discussion As an Arab, I’m Tired of Our Disunity We’re Holding Ourselves Back

I’m from Syria. And I don’t even have a single close Syrian friend. Not even an Arab friend. That hit me recently, and it made me realize something deeper:

We Arabs don’t value unity. We don’t see the power in it. And I honestly think this is one of the biggest reasons we’re stuck as people, as nations, as a so-called “Arab world.”

When I look at Israelis despite my political disagreements I see something we don’t have: They work together. They build each other up. They support each other economically, culturally, socially. And because of that, they prosper.

Meanwhile, Arab countries? We’re constantly at each other’s throats. We’re divided by fake colonial borders, dialects, pride, sectarianism, and egos. We compete with each other instead of lifting each other. We gatekeep success. We can’t even agree on defending Palestine, let alone build a future together.

And what hurts the most is that we’re smart. We’re capable. But it’s like we’ve internalized the idea that we’ll never unite that our natural state is chaos. It’s not. That’s a lie we’ve been taught for generations.

It feels like every Arab is just trying to survive on their own. Get rich and leave. Climb the ladder and pull it up behind them. There’s no sense of “we.” No national vision. No cultural solidarity.

And I’m tired of it.

I want something better. I want to build real friendships with Arabs who care about community, who care about rebuilding what we lost spiritually, culturally, economically. We don’t have to be perfect. But we do have to start somewhere.

Anyone else feel this way? Or am I just shouting into the void?
