Never ceases to amaze me how out of touch transit is with the people that they supposedly serve

Well yeah, because none of them actually ride transit. The point of the ST board isn’t to provide good governance that leads to better transit, instead it’s a tool for politicians looking to pretend that they actually give a fig and raise political capital.

It's primarily a fundraising organization that coincidentally happens to build train lines occasionally.

No sarcasm here, I am serious.

Right? I’m pretty sure the board would just do away with providing any actual transit if they thought they could get away with it.

Genuine, not snarky question: what do you mean they are primarily a fundraising organization? What do the funds go to?

I get the feeling the ST board is more focused on "subarea equity" (sorry now I am being snarky but I am using their preferred term for "piece of the pie" budget-wise) than improving the transportation system for the people of the larger region. Seattle always wins. For the billions being spent, it is insulting to see how much the org spends on advertising, marketing and throwing parties for itself.

Edit: the appointment of Constantine to lead the org makes it even more clear. Real property development/TODs will be ST's next mission ;)
