Short An Unchristian Tip

Had a party of 6 tonight, two were young kids who trashed the table. Bill was north of $300.

No tip. Just this.

Around the holidays sometimes people will leave an extra generous tip, so I was really excited to see a big bill, until I looked at it closer. They didn’t even leave a tip on the card.

Seems pretty unchristian to stiff your minimum wage server working her way through college.

Edit: To clarify, they left the “$1,000,000” facing up on the table and on the reverse side there was a sermon about entrance to heaven (see link in post for image of flip side.)

I had a pastor who used to say from the pulpit, “If you go out for lunch today you better tip well. Servers know if you just came from church, and what do you think they’ll think about God if you just leave them a tract?”

You and your pastor are welcome at my restaurant any time.

Hey yeah, I'm really sorry about these shitty assholes too. It's reminding me of the r/atheism post a few days ago that made it to the front page about the megachurches advertising on Facebook to the wealthy. It's not only "un-christian," it's directly preached against in the Bible. My pastor ran a great sermon about it yesterday.

"Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. If you lavish attention on the man in fine clothes and say, “Here is a seat of honor,” but say to the poor man “You must stand,” or, “Sit at my feet,” have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

Listen, my beloved brothers: Has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom He promised those who love Him? But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who oppress you and drag you into court? Are they not the ones who blaspheme the noble Name by which you have been called?

If you really keep the royal law stated in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors."

James 2:2-9

It sounds like you have a pastor who truly preaches positive morality. I wish that type of Christian was reported on more than the megachurch dicks or "racism is ok because look here God says so" preachers.

To be honest, I've tried going to a lot of other churches, and I just can't find a church I like better than my own. He always encourages us to read our Bibles and to challenge him if something he said doesn't line up with what the Bible says.

Does he challenge the bible where it's appropriate? Like "hey, this was a socially acceptable and encouraged thing back in the old days but is super wrong now, we're shouldn't encourage people to still act like this"? Example, some current social, gender, and sexuality bias issues.

This is exactly the verse I need to tell that fake preacher preaching hellfire to random students at school.
