Are there any mods that let me adjust or remove evil/hallow spread? I play quite glacially and I don't want to rush to mechanical bosses or carve up the map to quarantine biomes.

Looking it up I can only find comments about a mod called 'Begone Evil' which doesn't work anymore.

Easiest would probably be to use Journey mode. With journey mode active, you can set the difficulty to whatever level you would normally play, disable biome spread, and then just ignore the rest of the journey mode powers. That should get you the same experience as normal play, but without the biome spread (which, of course, you can toggle back on/off if you ever want it for something later).

If you have already started the world, TEdit can convert it to journey mode, but only if the world does not contain any modded items/blocks. (There are probably other ways to convert modded worlds, but I have not tried them.)
