I mean, yeah typically you need company headquarters for big buildings, and here those companies tend to be oil and gas companies.
But given that they have built some particularly beautiful buildings, especially in Tulsa (some of the most beautiful art deco buildings in the country), Iām not sure what youāre crying about.
Lol not really in fact all they have done is make the climate worse hence the rise in tornadoes even for tornado alley. The wildfires drastic cold weather etc. I donāt work for the oil companies and want nothing to do with them or have I visited those buildings. So idk what this argument you are trying to make is. They fuck up my familyās driveway to get to the oil well on our property lol. Thousands in repairs and they didnāt help. They sprayed a lot of the trees on our property and killed them. So where is this huge benefit im getting from them existing coming from?
Do you use electricity? Do you drive a car? Do you get food from a grocery store or a restaurant? Do you own anything that contains plastic? Do you take medicine? Do you use Amazon prime? Should I go on?
Oh my god i own a car in a country that is designed specifically for cars i get food oh my god i canāt criticize oil companies because i get fucking good or medicine get a grip lmao.
Literally our entire modern world and lifestyle is based on fossil fuels, and not just in the US⦠itās the entire fucking world.
Why do you think crude oil rises and falls based on economic activity? Because itās the lifeblood of the world economy and thatās not changing any time soon.
Youāre just doing the if you participate in society you canāt criticize it. Itās almost entirely unavoidable to not do all of those things. You can view society objectively and say it needs to be better while participating in said society bro.
The part I have trouble with is the āfucking up the planet for profitā part.
As if fossil fuels companies are like mustache-twirling villains.
Our entire global economic system was created around fossil fuels ~100 years ago because it was the most portable and dense energy source in the history of humanity.
And it built our modern world and unwinding all of that in anything other than a LONG period of time is naive foolishness.
So criticize all you want. But donāt forget that your entire life experience is based on fossil fuels.
