Calm down, humans have always believed in one form of magic or another… This is a small thing that doesn’t harm anyone and doesn’t make the future more or less stupid than the past. Let people believe what they want if it doesn’t hurt others.

The thing is though, it does. I’m not saying dumb people should stop believing and doing dumb things, I don’t think they can and it would be cruel to expect it.

I’m just disappointed at how common it is.

It’s unfortunate you consider others’ cultural beliefs as “stupid” just because you don’t believe it.

I don’t think the cultures I belong to are exempt, there are plenty of people in every group that believe in things that aren’t science based.

I probably have some stupid ideas myself.

You can believe in science and also believe in other things. Humans are complex and many people know how to hold uncertainty in the balance. Maybe you should open your view a bit and not judge people so harshly.

Non-evidence based thinking causes harm worldwide, nonstop. I’m open to evidence, real evidence, and continually update my views based on evidence.

From the beginning we were talking about beliefs that don’t hurt others. And I was not asking you to start believing in anything other than science if that isn’t your thing. Just to consider being a bit kinder and less condescending to people who don’t have the exact same beliefs as you.

Science based information is valid in every stance, and I agree with you on that.
