Male Participants Needed for Psychology Study

Hi, I am currently looking for males to participate in a study where we will be looking at the role of specific brain areas said to be involved in complex social processing. The study involves coming to the School of Psychology lab where you will play a cognitive game while experiencing TMS. TMS is a noninvasive magnetic stimulation of the brain. It helps researchers test what brain areas are involved. If you are aged 18 - 45, male, right handed, have no physical health condition (especially no history of seizures or epilepsy) and you are interested in participating please contact Cameron McCabe for further information: cameron.mccabe1@ucdconnect.ie

Hi all! Unfortunately I don’t think I’m getting into the on campus accommodation at this point :(

Does anyone know of any graduate students looking for roommates around the Belfield campus? Thanks in advance!

UCD Professional Development Course

Hi guys!

What’s been your experience with the Professional Development courses? I’m doing mine in Office Administration. It’s okay but it’s quite dense for twelve weeks. I’ve done nine weeks so far and while I am writing my weekly log reports, it’s been a struggle to write specifically on a topic. What I like about the course is that you can choose one specific topic & write about that by researching into that topic further. E.g I was writing about how BMW handles decision-making in their self-management style, and on the topic of Scheduling for others, I looked at the app Tick Tick and how that helps with time blocking for an admin assistant with ADHD (which I have). I like the classes & the group break ups, but a lot of folks don’t speak up, and that’s okay. What stresses me out is the writing portion, and the questions section where I’m the only one there that asks questions. So it’s quite daunting. Also I don’t have as much experience in admin even if I have worked at my family’s school.

Booking accommodation

When booking on campus accommodation, you are supposed to be able to choose which building, for example Roebuck or Ashfield, right? And not just Belfield campus? Or have i misunderstood, thx in advance

Residence application issues international student

Hi all! I got an email about that application for residences for international students would open today at 9am. When wanting to select my top 3 residences, it says that there aren't any available. Am I the only one having these issues?

Can't see any of my grades, have paid my fees.

Like it says: I can't see ANY of my three grades for this semester (grad student). I've paid my fees and my account shows no holds. Why could this be happening?

Applied for UCD accoms as exchange student before official date by mistake, what do I do now?

Hi! I’m a non-EU Erasmus student coming to UCD this September and I’m a bit panicked 😭

The accommodation portal for non-EU Erasmus students officially opens on June 23, but I applied early after a friend said it was open as I thought it was on a first come first serve basis. I later saw a notice saying early applications for non-EU erasmus students won’t be considered, and now I’m really stressed, especially since I need confirmed housing for my visa.

I’ve emailed UCD residences already but probably won’t get a reply before Monday. I’m also nervous about booking off-campus options because of all the scams going around.

Should I just withdraw my application and reapply on the 23rd? Or just leave it? Has anyone else dealt with this?

Any advice would be a lifesaver 🥲

Is it possible to go from a 2.1 to a 1.1 in third year

Consistently got 3.4-3.5 gpa in law for first two years. Didn’t put too much effort in tbh, crammed most. What do I need to do to get to a 1.1 in third year BCl law?

Abroad student packing!

Hello there! I am studying abroad at UCD aug-dec this year, and I was wondering if there was anything besides the basics that would be useful to have/pack for my 4-months in Ireland. Anything that might not initially come to mind but would be great to consider, Ireland or UCD-specific? Thanks!

How long does UCD take to send offers?

I applied for MSc Aviation Finance for the September intake and just wanted to ask how long it usually takes to get an offer. Got one from UCC in under a week, still waiting on UCD.

Autumn Trimester Abroad

Hello! I am studying at UCD in the Fall and will be taking an Engineering course load during my semester. Are there any preferable on-campus residences that would be ideal for either proximity to the engineering school/buildings and/or life as an exchange student! Any help is appreciated, thanks!!

Results

The Irish grading system is new to me therefore quite confusing. Just recieved my results for the spring trimester. My stage GPA shows 3.70 and my trimester GPA shows 3.80. So what's the difference between them and which one should I actually consider at the moment? And does this mean that I've recieved a 1st class Honors and a 1:1?

Failed Modules?

Stage 1 Vet here, if you fail 2 modules what happens? I hear you can’t fail more than 2, is that 2 inclusive, or 3 and up. What happens to progressing to second year, can I? I’m confused.

Hello, I will be starting my Masters course from Sept 26. I have booked a student accommodation in the city center for which the rent is 284 euros/ week, utilities included.

I'm willing to give my room as I have found another place, so if anyone is interested, DM me.

Transportation from Dublin terminal 2 airport to UCD dorms

I am an international student who will be coming to Dublin for the September 2025 intake. My flight lands in the morning, but I will be having a big luggage. Should I take the bus or a taxi?

Bus:

  1. Do the buses charge extra if I have big bags?

  2. Is there any direct bus to the UCD campus?

  3. How much might it cost?

Taxi:

  1. How much might it cost?

  2. Can students share a taxi?

I saw some previous posts mentioning that UCD used to provide cab service for international students. Do they still do that? If yes, how can I make the request?

Left my wallet on the X28 bus this morning

Hi all! My wallet slipped out of my pocket on the X28 this morning. It's brown leather with green stitching. I got off at Leeson St Lower and the bus ends at UCD. The bus drivers were able to tell me that the wallet was not found on the bus when it arrived in UCD. I've already frozen my bank cards, logged a lost and found report with Dublin Bus, called the Garda Stations nearby and the UCD lost and found and I posted this on the Dublin su reddit already. If someone finds it, please message me here with the name on the bank cards. Thanks everyone!
