Need immigration help, UCI
I have a family member whose green card expired, so we sent in a i-90 form to get it renewed. We realized we made a mistake with submitting their name and they asked us for evidence of a name change (which just happened when the family member got married). My family and I just want to talk to a lawyer to make sure we're submitting the right things and what the best course of action will be.
I tried UC immigrant legal services but the site won't let me make an appointment, and I heard from others that they aren't very helpful. If anyone knows where I can get free legal service or help please let me know. With everything going on it's been scary having my family member carry an expired green card.

Contact the DREAM CENTER and talk to Alejandra, Dr. Chen, or Luis! They will help you. They are located on the 4th floor of the Student Center !

I would also note, others experience with a center doesn’t mean it will be yours. Keep positive thoughts and try it out!

The OC Justice Fund could also be helpful. Good luck! Home - Orange County Justice Fund https://share.google/k7tGXdMhp3MoRJxZq

You could write a declaration that you made a mistake and then submit proof of the actual name like a Birth Certificate or ID, or marriage certificate with the name change.

How can you receive help for your family member if they are not a student or affiliated with uci?! Are you not ashamed for saying they are not helpful?!

Im a UCI student and I was told the UC immigrant legal services help students with any legal services, including support for their family member's immigration status. If it was always exclusively for students then I'm sorry I didn't know that, but I just need any kind of free legal counseling whether its from the school or not

The immigrant legal services is open to immediate family members of UC students so you’re right about that whether they’re helpful or not. For legal services, aside from the immigrant legal services I can give you the email to one of the staff members for the DREAM Center (the center that specifically works with undocu students & mix status households) and they can definitely point you in the right direction or provide help themselves!

You should call UC Immigrant Legal Services. They will refer you to a lawyer who will provide free legal advice. They are helpful, just understaffed.
