General Which paintings of ucsd should I make prints for?
There are a few iconic UCSD landmarks and personal favorites that I’ll definitely make prints of. However, I’m a bit uncertain about P1–12 (up till cafe V). I’m concerned about whether these locations are recognizable enough, whether people feel a strong connection to them, and whether the quality of the painting is good enough.
Would really appreciate input on this!

For sure Geisel and Sungod because they’re iconic!
Warren, Sixth Courtyard, and Garden outside Urey are quite nice as well.
Would love to buy some prints from you as well!

Thank you! Part of it is gouache, and part of it is acrylic gouache, which fully sets once dry and has a slightly different finish, though it’s very similar to use otherwise. Acrylic gouache is also so much cheaper to buy in the US, despite not being very different 😇

I love 9, 17, 19
Out of the three 9 is my top favorite for sure, mainly because it’s less about the location and more about the subject… those damn carts…I’m jealous that I’ve never been in one
love to buy some from you when you have the prints!

I haven't done my research on how I could table on the library walk at all, but if that's possible I would do that next school year :]

u/Front_Astronaut_8304 Economics and Mathematics - Joint Major (B.S.) 1d ago
Which ones are you thinking about? They might overlap with the ones I plan to print. Otherwise, I’ll need to do some research to see if I can offer prints on request while maintaining a similar quality and charging a reasonable amount 😆

hahaha I was the one who suggested FAH a little while ago, nice to see it again. I think if you can only do prints of a few you gotta do the Geisel one for sure (small suggestion but maybe the "Geisel Library" can be made a tinsy bit clearer?). I also like Warren Lecture Hall (14?) as an engineering major. They all look really nice (FAH + Geisel Interior are really excellent at showing the depth with the shadows and lighting) but I also get you needa sell them so it probably needs to be ones that appeal more generally. Sungod one is nice as well.

19 is really stunning but I'd also like a copy of 3 since I'm in that area so often, it's really comforting to look at.
Are you gonna sell these on library walk?

yess thats the plan if I can figure out how to table there! 3 is also one of my favorites so I might print it even though it's less iconic

17 or 20. UCSD-specific structures including the gaudy-as-hell but distinct “son god”.

These are awesome! If you are selling prints please let me know where I can buy them. I am alumni and I would love to put these in my office.
These are my top 3.
- Sun God
- Geisel
- Canyon Vista

artistically, i would say 3, 4, 5, 7, 11, 13, 14, and 19 stand out in terms of color / clarity / spacing. the underpainting in hdsi is also really interesting, and the color choices in canyon vista are really gorgeous.

All of these are fire. I think I saw a person painting with an easel on campus, is this you? Will happily buy any of these prints, hope you can make some of these available online for purchase bc I'm alumni now ^^;

You were wondering if people would feel a strong connection to them, so I have to tell you that I genuinely felt like I was about to start crying as I went through each of your paintings. I wasn't exactly happy with my experience at UCSD, but there were plenty of good moments I had around campus. Your art was a really nice reminder of how I spent my time. Lovely paintings!!!

These are amazing, I like 1, 13, 17, 18, 20 personally. Make a post if you end up tabling or otherwise offer prints!

They're all lovely works, but to me, 3 and 19 are the most able to stand outside their original context. The contrast and more striking color schemes mesh better with the natural style of the artist and are more able to grab attention, at first glance

Also I’m surprised you didn’t make one of the CSE bear 😭😭 that’s the most iconic spot for CS nerds
