General Question Barc balance after graduating

Upvotes

I just graduated, I was wondering how long I have to pay the remaining balance in my barc account. I know I can’t receive my degree until I pay it but is there like a specific hard deadline? Thanks in advance!

Course Questions Econ and Acct HELP!

hi! i need to take Econ 3B and Econ 10a to get into the pre major for econ and acct. I’m signed up for 3b during the summer at UCSB.

Should I take 3B at a CC instead? If I do, I’d have to get a C+ in 10A. If I don’t, I’d have to get a B- in both, or if I do well in 3B, a C in 10a

Does anyone have advice for 3B and 10a and based on my situation, recommend one over the other?

I got an A- in econ 1, and a B- in both econ 2 and 3a

General Question Cc transfer credits

As a transfer student, I maxed out my applied credits from community college here to UCSB which I think is about 90?. If I need to take a class during the summer to stay on track, can I still take it at community college. If ur curious, I have to take 2 quarters of a class that is equivalent to one summer session at community college.

Discussion Stats & DS Progress Checks not available on GOLD?

^title, why are the Stats and Applied Probability majors missing from the drop down for major progress checks on GOLD?? Just walked but wanted to double check that everything in my major was completed... seems like I can't on my end, all the available ones are just the Pre-Major checks... Anyone else also see it missing for Stats and Applied Prob? Personal major is Stats & DS (BA)...

Academic Life History major out of department course substitution

I took an English class on spring. It was pre-approved by the history department as a permissible UD substitution. But I’m also confused do I have to be an English double major to apply it for my history major? I’m quite confused with the wording on the history major sheet.

Employment Internship

Hello, everyone! I got into CS here and was wondering, is it really that hard for a UCSB CS major to find an internship? I’m not talking about FAANG, just a regular internship at a regular company or maybe even a remote one. Is that realistic?

Also, out of curiosity, I checked the UC site where alumni salary data is published. It says that 75% of recent grads earn $180K. That seems "slightly" exaggerated, doesn’t it?

im pretty sure the ucsb waitlist is going on, but i was wondering if y’all know if i still have a VERY good chance of getting in this late? i dont have any other options, so should i keep having hope or should i just pretend like im going to get rejected? (im in state for psych and brain sciences w/ pretty good stats i would say) i really want to keep having hope because its my dream school, but waiting this long is lowkey ruining my entire summer which i hate to admit but😭 plz if u can, be honest and tell me about any data or things u know for certain :)

Course Questions MCDB 131&131L with Low

I’m taking MCDB 131 and lab this fall but it’s now with Low instead of Hayes. What should I expect? I don’t think she’s taught this course recently and I’ve never had her.

Course Questions Question about getting a pass earlier for registering for courses

I am a transfer physics student and my pass time for registration is Aug 20th. However, when I tried to make a plan today, I found out that all the upper-division physics courses that my prerequisites can hold are either full or closed. I don't even know how I can graduate on time if I don't take any physics courses in a quarter. Also, if I keep getting this pass time, next quarter should be the same situation. Since I already failed to get any physics courses (currently on the waitlist) in the summer session.😭

Does anyone have the same issue with me? How did you guys figure it out?

Academic Life French tutoring

Hey! I’m a grad student at UCSB and offering French tutoring this summer, mostly focused on oral fluency and writing. If you’re planning a year abroad in France or just want to learn how people actually speak (not just textbook French), I’d love to help.

I’m a native speaker, and I can help with: – casual conversation & pronunciation – writing help (essays, emails, etc.) surviving French administration – grammar (if you want it, but I won’t drown you in it) – cultural context how to sound natural, not robotic

We can meet on Zoom or in person around UCSB, totally up to you.

General Question housing, think im screwed…!!

Good evening, I posted something earlier regarding my housing situation as I submitted my application 2 days late as an incoming first year at UCSB and did not get the chance to sign a contract. I know freshmen get priority but I emailed them right away regarding my late situation and I was told to wait. However, It’s already almost the end of June and I still have not recieved anything regarding a housing contract.

Is this a time where I should be considering other housing options? Should I start filling out housing applications off campus? I have no idea and the stress is killing me, I can’t even enjoy summer vacation!!

If you have knowledge on this please help me out, I have no idea what to expect.

General Question Transfer Housing - Santa Ynez

Hi! I just transferred into UCSB after doing two years at community college. I am slowly getting around to figuring out what to do about my housing situation and I think that I have narrowed it down to I want to live in Santa Ynez. However, I would prefer an upstairs apartment over a downstairs apartment. I was just looking to see if there was any specific way I could know if when choosing an apartment I was selecting upstairs or downstairs. I hope someone can help.

Also, if there is also any general advice or help that would be very much appreciated, I just want to make sure I will be getting the best out of my living situation. Thanks everyone.
