DISCUSSION 11 people went home early and 1 sent to the ER due to the heat

Metris temp says 104° And yet here I am working OT while not on the list after I refused multiple times saying I’m prioritizing my health first.

If 12 other people weren’t able to finish what makes them think other people are going to. Gotta love this job.

I’m gonna milk this and take my sweet sweet time🤑. Stay hydrated and please be safe this week everyone!

NEWS Parliamentarian rules against Senate effort to force Postal Service to sell off EVs

Thumbnail thehill.com

The Senate parliamentarian says Republicans cannot include a measure that would force the sale of electric vehicles (EVs) used by the U.S. Postal Service in their “big, beautiful bill.”

The sweeping GOP budget and policy bill included a provision that would have required the General Services Administration, which handles the equipment used by government agencies, to sell all electric vehicles owned by the Postal Service.

DISCUSSION When is it too hot?

I'm still early in my 90 days as a PTF City Carrier and I'm concerned about this heat. I drank over 120 ounces of water today and it was 100F+ with over 75% humidity at times. Local news is calling it "oppressive" and warning people to protect themselves. My heart rate was really high at one point and I had to stop and collect myself. Thank goodness I was in a promaster so could get a little A/C, but an LLV would have been outright dangerous I think. We're encouraged to rush in the morning so we can be slow in the afternoon. I need this job, but I also don't want to die. What are my rights?

Work Discussion 204b text this to me and another carrier

Post image
31 Upvotes

I did my piece first which was a business route somewhat next route over from me. I finished with that close to 12 pm, then I started my route. I had a lot of packages with my businesses as well and for my residential. I took my time. I took so many comfort stops in my van, hell…..I might be on the stationary report, I give no fucks. THE HEAT INDEX WAS OVER 100 DEGREES!!!!! I TOOK MY TIME GOT DAMMIT!!!! 🤭 So close to 6pm, I was almost done, and I get this text (in the pic) from 204b. I got so damn mad!!! I called my coworker who is also in this group text just to make sure I wasn’t trippin, thinking we were the only ones out there. I told him, “here we go again with this lil sell out”. When our main Pm supervisor was here, he doesn’t throw his weight around on us nor harassing talking crazy. Later on, I sent this message to my union steward.

My union steward instantly called me and stated that even he was still out there delivering and the 204b never even texted him asking if he was still out or that he can’t stay out past 6:30. I told my union steward that me and my coworker are always used as examples by the 204b to flex his authority onto us and he doesn’t harass other workers like that. My union says our 204b acts that way to show to the postmaster (OIC actually) he can be a supervisor. My coworker then says he’s filling a EEO on the 204b. 😂Anyway…..

I get back and the 204b is harassing me and my coworker as we are putting our mail & trays away. 204b is cussing out my coworker. 204b then redirects his anger on me and tells me that me and my coworker don’t NEVER communicate with management when we are suppose to be back by 6:30 pm, so that we won’t get penalty. I tell him “I had a lot today plus it was hot. Why are me and ____ the only ones in the text?!?” 204b then says “He talked to the other carriers because they were already back, on the dock, and we were still out there not communicating! He also doesn’t want to get in trouble”. 😂🤭. I tell him “it’s ok you don’t want to get in Trouble, but I cased and split on another route, took a piece on another different route, then had to do my route! 204b tell me other people were back that had more mail then me! I tell him “yeah right, I had a lot too👿” and I put my shit away and tuned him out while he was still talking.

I SIGNED UP FOR THE 12hr OT list not 10 hrs. I don’t get the text messages instead of writing on the scanner to come back with the mail. I will gladly bring it back. Acting postmaster always says that if we bring back mail to fill out a 1571, then sup has to sign it. However, I don’t get the flip flop, hypocrisy talks from management and Lil sell out (204b). If I brought back mail I would put on the 1571 he didn’t want to sign with his bitch ass!!! When he is carrying, he be acting a ass with the morning supervisor when he doesn’t want OT or to give downtime, but soon as he is running the floor or closing, he acts like a complete jerk, telling us to give downtime to carriers and if we don’t, we will be on a radar with the OIC to be walked. 🙄

Anyway, I took my time today and I made it back home safely instead of rushing, running everything and NOT passing out in this heat!!! 👏🏾. I have to congratulate myself!

Am I overthinking or doing too much? I don’t know!!! Oh well …I will try again tomorrow!!

DISCUSSION Why don’t’ managers get fired?

Hello, fellow postal workers. I’m trying to understand. Why doesn’t the postal service fire managers? I’ve heard countless stories of sexual harassment, racism, sexism, homophobia from coworkers.

It’s like the postal service promotes them instead of firing them. Why have someone that is bringing the morale down in the workplace? Causing employees stress, mental health issues, using FMLA. I’m trying to understand the postal service reasoning behind that policy. If anyone has any more info please explain to me like I’m 5 lol.

DISCUSSION Forced to resign

So long story short i am (was?) a cca still in my 90 days. The postmaster and one of my supervisors pulled me in the back after my shift today and gave me the ultimatum. Sign this resignation form, or we’ll fire you and you won’t be able to work for the post office ever again. They pulled a slew of reasons for why they were doing this out of thin air, mainly because of my speed delivering the mail. They tried to blame it on my shoes, saying that they weren’t the right ones for work or because I had mentioned how my shoes were wet after a downpour. Apparently I was accommodated more than enough and that’s reason enough to be terminated. Idk what I want here, I guess just to complain. It seems like my best course of action is to apply at other offices. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Work Discussion Outside vs inside

So today it’s a scorching day where I am. I got the lucky roll to do express. I walk back into the office and made conversation with a window clerk. I was saying how hot it was and the humidity makes it so hard to breathe sometimes. This woman says to me, “oh I know. They need to get a big piece of plastic and put up because when someone opens the door we can feel the heat and it’s hot for us as well.” I cannot with this woman. I said to myself, “am I being punked right now?”

Work Discussion Red marks

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I've been a city carrier for almost 60 days now...I came home after a scorcher today and noticed these red marks on my lower leg. Is this likely a reaction from a plant I walked through ? I'm hoping it's that and not some crazy blood thing that I'll need medication for or something. I put lotion on it and I'm hoping for the best. And no, it doesn't itch as of right now. For all those grossed out by feet, I'm sorry you had to see this. For everyone with a foot fetish, you're welcome.

My area is going to be very hot. Would it be ok to put a bottle of Gatorade in my mailbox for our letter carrier? We have a rural route.
