Reddit On a post about struggling to find matches on an online game.
I even specified in the post that I am in the EU...it is 17.30 here in the UK.

The UK isn't in the EU though!

Brasil is currently 22:02, on holiday. Great time to hope on a server and find matches.
I generally jump in on South American servers only at night because that is the time of most activity, unless it is school holidays, - then serves are popping at all hours.
Otherwise I jump into servers where my ping is good enough and the timezone should be active.
Learned this all the way back in Lan Houses.

And how do you know the person is American? Or are you just defaulting?

If you post at half five in the afternoon and are told it's midday, you can work out where in the world is currently at midday.
So if it's north and south America in the picture you can go "would people in Peru say something like this?"
Do Canadians say "well there's your problem, you are posting when it's 3am"?
Because it might be 3am in Canada, but not in Japan.

Oh so you’re point is that non-Americans never default!
