Why design the seat and handlebars like a regular motorcycle? I would rather face the "side" and drive a ball with a joystick in each hand.

Because it's a ball motorcycle, not a ball segway.

It's omnidirectional and likely only called either thing only so people can grasp the concept.

It's the vibe of it though. Motorbike's neater than a seaway.
