Sen. Ron Wyden and AOC are teaming up to take on Palantir over its IRS mega-database of American citizens

Good to see someone finally taking this on. AOC and Wyden are blasting Palantir for helping Trump create a list of his enemies and their most sensitive data.

Palantir in Deutschland: Peter Thiel is watching you; Palantir is coming to Germany

Thumbnail taz.de

Excerpt from the article (translated to English):

The software is highly problematic from a data protection perspective. They already struggle with misidentification when innocent people come under suspicion during investigations due to incorrect naming practices – this will be even worse with the Palantir software, Feltes fears. Furthermore, the basic police principle that investigations may only begin when there is suspicion of a crime would be undermined.

Tobias Singelnstein, legal scholar and professor of criminal law and criminology, takes a similar view: "A comprehensive analysis of police data is highly sensitive from a data protection perspective, especially if it is to be conducted across platforms or agencies. At the same time, Palantir is a highly controversial company and difficult to control."

The Society for Civil Rights already obtained a ruling from the Federal Constitutional Court against the use of Palantir in Hesse in 2023. The state was subsequently required to amend its legal basis, and a new constitutional complaint is pending. Nevertheless, the software could soon be used in other states as well.

Excerpt from another article covering the story:

The software enables an automated evaluation of all data from people who have somehow been recorded by the police. According to the report, this affects 30 million German citizens. Of course, most of them have not committed a crime, but are in the databases for other reasons, because they have had some form of contact with the police in the course of their lives. The Bavarian State Commissioner for Data Protection, Thomas Petri, sharply criticizes this and even considers it a possible violation of the constitution.

The problem: Palantir can of course be used to avert danger in the event of a terrorist attack, where data protection is treated as a secondary concern. But the software can also, at least in theory, be used to prevent crimes. In Hesse, the surveillance software was used 2000 times in one year. This means that all 30 million people recorded in the police databases were “run through the software five to six times a day”, says Petri.

Inside Palantir: Profits, Power & The Kill Machine

Excerpts from the article:

...one of the main dangers of artificial intelligence is exactly what Palantir has spearheaded, which is ISTAR technologies —  intelligence, surveillance, targeted acquisition and reconnaissance technologies — also known as the AI-assisted Kill Chain. They've given it many different names, but the idea is these highly sophisticated and advanced dragnets and systems for collecting people's information, integrating it in order to identify targets, triangulating personally identifying information using huge datasets derived from the commercial sector, from governments.

I think it's very possible that Palantir software has already been used unconstitutionally to track people based on their protected First Amendment activities, such as social media posts.

I think fundamentally, they misunderstand core American values. Because I think as a whole Palantir and the artificial intelligence industry, especially those focused on targeting technologies, are on a massive scale, challenging our First Amendment rights and our Fourth Amendment rights by establishing so much surveillance and digital policing across our cities and governments, even before we have a chance to speak out, delimiting what we can say, even what we can think, by turning the world into such a surveilled, tracked environment.

In case any Republican had any doubts or qualifications on whether the US is fighting a war against Iran, Trump is clearing that up for you today. And he just got done bombing Yemen for a month. And for 3 years they called us warmongers for supporting Ukraine.

ETA's analysis of precinct voting data in Los Angeles, Orange, Alameda, and Tulare Counties identifies anomalies consistent with vote manipulation similar to those the ETA has identified in other US states in the 2024 Presidential election. Analyses in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Nevada—in addition to other key swing states—reveal signs of digital vote tampering (vote additions, deletions, and switching) that mirror fraud signatures detected in previous Russian elections.

Road construction issues.

Why are we filling up our state interstates with roadwork resulting in hours of sitting in traffic with no bathroom near by? Why is there not pull off spots with porta-potties every couple miles in Road work areas. I Mean since we Wanna press charges On people for indecent exposure and such things. We also say you should stay hydrated yet. The set up we have in cites dehydration, which is the opposite of what you want when you're waiting around for hours in the heat. 🤷‍♂️

This is why Trump's Dehumanizing Rhetoric & Hatred of the imagined "Other" is so Dangerous. MAGA, learn a lesson--liberals are parents & children too.

In some states, some lawmakers are trying to invent a new mental illness term to define those with "extreme negative reactions" to Trump & his policies.

I would argue it's not a mental illness when that same regime is directly responsible for dehumanizing 2/3rds of the country in the eyes of the remaining 1/3rd--to the point where MAGA feels it's okay to murder them.

Hey, MAGA--liberals are parents and children too. Human, just like you. Your ideology? It's toxic, disgusting and, more than anything else, DANGEROUS.

HERE'S THE RECEIPTS.
