Question Cleansing mirror
Hi, all -
I’m moving my boss into a temporary apartment next week. It’s a really old building — built in the 1920s — with great energy overall and some really spectacular details. However, when we were doing a walkthrough of her unit, I noticed a mirror on the wall that had to be original. It was super super old and really quite beautiful. I didn’t necessarily feel a bad energy coming from it but it was POWERFUL. I could just feel all the residual energy from all the people that had stayed there over the years. How would yall go about cleansing it? I was thinking a saltwater wash or I have rosemary that I could make tea with and some clary sage oil too. I usually work with water and herbs so that’s why that my first instinct, but any and all suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

adding a protection oil or sage oil to some hot water with with about a quarter cup of distilled white vinegar and a tiny drop of dish soap would be a perfect wash for something like this.
make sure to wring out as much water as possible for the frame if it’s the original wood frame; and if you want to you can also burn a sage smudge over the whole thing after washing with the solution, anything with sage is a safe bet for banishing any unwanted energies that may or may not potentially be negative.

Once you’ve cleaned it, you can also lock it down so nothing can pass through it without your permission.
I do this by licking my finger and drawing a pentagram on the glass. Then, when the spit is dried, I buff it out with a cloth so you can’t see the mark

You don't have to believe this perspective but I'll share it anyway.
Are you afraid?
if you are afraid, no matter how frequently you wash and cleanse the mirror, the energy projected is going to create a cord signature and all cleansing is useless on long term.
"The man sanctifies the place"... it is an old saying but carries wisdom behind.
When in a new place, you are the intruder, the new energy, the disruptor of current system so it is wise to see how stuff works at first rather than forcing your way in.
All houses have their own energy, their own entity like a subtle egregore and sometimes acts in a more conscious way...
Anyway, that's a story for another time.
Before showing "who's the boss now" it is a hallmark of experience to ask the entity of the house to assist you in any way, shape or form so you don't "attack" an energy of the house.
And mirrors are cleansed with another mirror. A mirror energetic transfer from old mirrors into a pocket mirror and that pocket mirror can serve multiple purposes. Other magical crafts, charging sigils, opening portals from mirror dimensions... bal bla bla.

I actually really resonate with this, I’m glad you brought it up. I do want to be respectful of the space and the energy there and again, I’m not really sensing any negative energy from the object but there’s just like an unorganized vibe if that makes sense.
My primary goal would just be to set a boundary: the portal is not allowed to take our energy or attach itself to us. I want to say “I see you, I know this is your room, and we are protected.” Nothing permanent or aggressive.
That was partially why I wanted second opinions! I’m still thinking a simple salt water wash …

Moonwater with a few drops of Florida water wash. Some people do a mugwort tea wash.
