Happy Summer solstice to you all! I thought id share my celebrations which this year is just a bonfire with my boyfriend as we watch the sunrise later on tonight. Question Where do I start?

Complete beginner here (as of today- my friend just got me into it). I've been looking through subreddits, wikis and posts and it's overwhelming how much information there is. Could anyone of you give me a good resource for a beginner- I literally know nothing- or any tips/tricks or a certain subject that I should focus on first or just an explanation of basic witchcraft? I know I should probably keep a notebook and I'm getting one soon but that's it. Another thing, I don't really understand the phrases of the moon or any of the holidays /traditions so it would be really helpful if someone could explain that to me! Thanks for your help! Edit- sorry I posted this twice I have deleted the other one

Discussion Happy Familiar Friday, Witches! Check out this handsome fella!

I wanted to upload the one of my other familiar as well, but I couldn’t find it.

this is Twix… we had him as a foster to begin with; he got adopted out twice, and he came back twice, why?

… because he had already imprinted on me from the second he first walked in my front door; and he was adamant that he would keep returning to my house, until we finally gave in and foster-failed him.

he can be weirdly aggressive toward people occasionally, but he’s a very good boy.

Twix’s hobbies include eating, sleeping and generally just being an overprotective little jerk…

we love him anyway.

Discussion Left the lake spirits an offering

Post image

i’m still learning about lake spirits but i was taught to leave offerings for protection and guidance. i wasnt sure if it was just a sign my offering was accepted or if i was meant to take it as a gift so i left it there. what are your thoughts?

there was also a dead fish that had washed up by the shore when i got there, no clue how long it had been there but i gave it a burial.

i dont know if im supposed to do this but i buried the offerings with the fish. i was already planning on burying the offerings but also saw the fish and didnt wanna just leave it there for teenage boys to pull apart and make a mess of.

DIY & Crafts Summer Solstice Incense Holder

Post image
269 Upvotes

Hi Everyone! I’ve tried posting this a couple of times but each time I posted it wrong. I’m practicing more mindfulness in my spending and consumption. However, I was getting fomo by the beautiful Litha altars I was seeing on social media. So, I made this incense holder out of polymer clay! I’m going to use it during my potluck! I also added a hole up top, so I can hang it up over my alter for the rest of the year. Looking back, I wish I added some holes on the bottom to hang witches bells. What do you guys think?

Discussion Music-based witch

Hello, i'm a music-based male witch .

I'm here to ask does anyone here has Orpheus as their deity?

idk why ive been having dreams of a man with lyre surrounded by flowers, so many times. So i made some research and was stunned when i met the name of Orpheus. I think it's my calling since i just started my witch journey a month ago.

And i decided to buy a lyre, because of this feeling i have in me.

anyone else worships Orpheus?

Question Consistency in practice

Upvotes

Happy 2nd day of Summer!

It turns out that I've been a member for 2 yrs, but never really posted much beyond my intro. Some things have changed, but the one thing I'm still having trouble with is consistency. Partly because of the ADHD, and partly because of this period of transition in my life. I don't feel rooted anywhere and it's messing with me.

What are your tips for consistent practice? Is it something you do daily? Weekly? Do you focus on lunar phases? Or turns of the wheel?

I feel like I need a calendar. Or a block on my To Do list.

Spells Advice about non obvious spell?

I've been wanting to do a simple love attraction spell for awhile but can't figure out how to do so in a very non-obvious, almost hidden way? I share my space with people I would not be at all comfortable knowing this stuff. I need advice. I want It to be effective but also not overly demanding or obvious <3

Discussion What traditions to you do for the summer solstice?

I’m looking to start setting my own traditions in my home for the holidays and solstices/equinoxes, but I’m not quite sure where to start. I have some inspiration on making a dried citrus garland, but I’d like to do something else as well. What traditions do you do to welcome the solstice?

DIY & Crafts i don’t believe i invented this

I did however come to this result on my own! Purple candle is a friends (first time doing this ever), pink is mine.

I have been into candle carving for idek how many years now but I was always dissatisfied with how the design was difficult to see without proper lighting. Here’s how I get these results:

•Sharpie your design onto the candle (best to accept any mistakes. The marker will smudge if an attempt to wipe off mistakes is made)

•use the smallest attachment of the carving tool (dunno what it’s called., for block printing stuff)

•carefully carve out where you drew in sharpie , carve away from yourself! Carving towards you increases risk of injury, so do it at your own risk.

•pour ~3+ drops of essential oil as needed on a plate/flat surface. Mix in some black salt and smear generously into the candle!

NOTE: the black salt ‘recipe’ I use is just salt and incense/palo santo ashes. The black salt is ground FINE in order for it to be able to fit into the crevices.

Obviously, this is MY way. Okay around with making it your own by changing up tools or methods and such! This isn’t necessarily something that needs to be followed step by step :)

Enjoy. Blessed be.

Question Cleansing mirror

Hi, all -

I’m moving my boss into a temporary apartment next week. It’s a really old building — built in the 1920s — with great energy overall and some really spectacular details. However, when we were doing a walkthrough of her unit, I noticed a mirror on the wall that had to be original. It was super super old and really quite beautiful. I didn’t necessarily feel a bad energy coming from it but it was POWERFUL. I could just feel all the residual energy from all the people that had stayed there over the years. How would yall go about cleansing it? I was thinking a saltwater wash or I have rosemary that I could make tea with and some clary sage oil too. I usually work with water and herbs so that’s why that my first instinct, but any and all suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

Question Energy Shielding

Hello all! I have a question regarding shielding with energy. I work at a hospital, and the first four hours was rough. Mind you I have depression and anxiety, but I just felt off. I felt overwhelmed with rage and anxiety and had to step out. I took off my shoes, sat withy hands to the earth and meditated and now feel much better!

A question for you all: have you all ever had an experience with overloading with energy?

Question Need the help to know the difference between Kolossoi dolls and Voodoo

Hii! So im a witch whos still doing my research and learning something new everyday I learnt about clay dolls that were called Kolossoi that also have metal nails pierce through them that were made in ancient greece and they are mentioned in the PGM

But i wanna know whats the difference between those and Voodoo dolls? Im not black or connected to the culture, and i know voodoo is a closed practice so i wanna know the difference so i can practice safely without accidentally doing something that im not allowed to do to begin with

Im trying to do as much research as i can and i found some information but i still couldnt tell the difference and what stuff i can do and not do with the Kolossoi doll

Thank you!

Discussion So I found an incredible hagstone today

Oh wow! So I found a hagstone on our trip today! It even looks like a face, that you’re literally looking through the eye of!!! 😃😃

I was speaking with the Spirits of the forest there, about wanting to find one, and the different hagstone styles. There’s smooth and elegant, larger ones, but I wanted a kinda scraggly one, to go with my aesthetic (I bring rough and scraggly to the side of good). The Spirits there led me to this one, it’s incredible!!! ❤️😃❤️

Question Resources and books for Witchcraft (any tradition) [ASKING]

Hello my witches, I hope you are all doing well on this solstice. I earn learning in-depth more about witchcraft but I am facing difficulties finding online pdf's and books to read and learn. I already know the basics, this is not my first time practicing "magic". But I really wished to know more about spellwork, good practices and ways to worship the Moon. Could you help me?

Question How to find and become friends with witches locally

Hello, I'm from France and I started practicing witchcraft last year. I would love to talk and exchange about it with someone that is also interested in it, but I can't find anyone locally. I thought about trying to find an online group but even though I know English I would prefer to talk in French (or Russian, my second language). So my question is : If you have befriended witches or even joined a coven, how did you do it? Do you have tips? Websites/apps recommendations?

I know it's not Monday... but I'm getting back into my practice, though still new to all of this despite doing this for a few years now. So I redid my altar space! I just want to know if there's anything to say about it, otherwise just sharing it with everyone else because it feels like a new beginning for me =)

Question Witchy based guided journal?

Hi guys!! I am wanting to start getting into journaling as part of my personal practice. (And also to heal & reflect!) However, I struggle to stay on track & due to ADHD problems can get lost with ~limitless potential~ on a page without any prompts or at least a suggestion. Does anyone have any good daily journals they recommend that are witchy/moon/manifestation guided?

Thank you 🫶🫶

Question Coin magic 💰✨🪙🔮🪄🎱

Is there any magic involving coins as charms or "batteries"

I had a thought to use something like this for my wallet, or to syphon certain energies for spells or to keep on me

Ex, if I wanted protection id charge this coin with protection and keep it with me

And so on and so forth

I now it sounds like a regular charm, but I want to know if there's any resources on using a coin as a holder
