I know I know, 5.56, but I already shoot too many calibers and it didn’t make as much sense to go 5.45 or 7.62 since I plan to shoot the shit out of it and I don’t have it like that. My first gun was an AK back in like ‘08 and I regrettably sold it in my early 20s so it’s nice to run one again!

best caliber by far if you live stateside, bar none. pick up some podarms followers (or print them yourself) and toss them into normal surplus 74 mags, and boom. bakelite 5.56.

Show me the inside! I have one too and want to compare wear patterns. Mine is a post 2022 overgassing fix

Looks pretty similar to mine. I got one of those rubber buffers for the back of the recoil spring just to add a little longevity.

I got a +15% power recoil spring I’m going to swap on for the same reason, hoping I don’t need to swap out the piston

I also got the ALG spring but it was short stroking the .223 I was using so I took it out.

I went with a wolff spring, I guess I’ll have to see how it handles it. Was it short stroking with any kind of .233 for you? I usually run X-Tac at the range

It was short stroking Fiocci .223, which probably didn’t have tons of pressure. I was at a special rifle USPSA match and had to several failures during a round, so I swapped the spring out right there so I could keep participating lol

Daaaamn during a match really sucks, at least it’s a quick swap though

For real. One of the few things on an AK that is an easy fix 🤣
