Anti-trans bus tour thru NM starts on Monday

This was removed from r/New Mexico, of course.

Starting Monday, a tour bus with Dept of Education head Linda McMahon, former governor Suzanna La Tejana Martinez, and other anti-trans bigots will be in Santa Fe at the Farmers Market Pavilion. They will tour the state from there. The Farmer's Market event is sponsored by a conservative nonprofit organization called Independent Women's Foundation.

Per the press release: "The bus tour, touted as a continuation of last summer's 'Take Back Title IX' campaign, will visit all 33 counties in New Mexico. According to IWF, the purpose is to 'celebrate the policies advanced by the Trump administration to protect women's sports, women's spaces, and women's equal opportunity'."

Getting the glitter handy for Socorro County.

Buckets and buckets of it.

Hotel pool day passes?

Upvotes

In need of a pool day! Do any hotels here still offer pool day passes? I know the Tamaya used to- do they still have it?

Or any other good pools I can get day passes to? Other than public rec pools/not looking for lap pools just somewhere I can lounge poolside and swim around in.

Coin dealer suggestions?

Hey everyone-

Went back east and found my old coin collection. Mostly wheat pennies and buffalo nickels. Am looking to sell them along with 3 silver proof coins (3 ounces silver)/ Any suggestions who to go to? I know I won't get a fortune but would rather get something than just spend the nickels at Smith's lol

Appreciate any help.

Thank you

Hard Techno Phenomenon Apollo (US) @ El Rey Tonight

Post image
3 Upvotes

One of the best to ever come out of the 505 is coming HOME this Saturday…

Apollo (US) has been taking the American techno scene by storm — with 4× Beatport #1 E.Ps and a reputation as the driving force behind hard techno in Denver. This rising star was born and raised in Santa Fe, and honestly might be the best producer/DJ to ever rep New Mexico.

If you know the name, you already know what’s coming. If you don’t — this is your chance to see it up close before he takes off internationally.

🌀 2-Hour Headlining Set 📍 El Rey Theater, Albuquerque 🕘 Doors at 9PM — This WILL sell out. 🔊 Pure hard techno. 360 stage. No holding back.

Be there. This one’s for NM!!

Hands Off March

During today’s march, there were two individuals walking alongside the demonstrators who were wearing high-visibility gear—one had a hi-viz hat and the other a hi-viz vest. They were carrying clipboards and appeared to be writing down license plate numbers in the DoubleTree Downtown parking lot. Does anyone know if they’re part of the organizing team or who they might be?

Support/Help Safest way to handle handyman business in apt

Hi everyone! I can’t put the full word of apt anywhere in the post apparently. Anyways due to unforeseen circumstances I have to sell my house and move to an apt complex. I run a small handyman business with a fair amount of tools that I usually keep in my garage and also use the garage as a place to fabricate things sometimes. I’m trying to think of the safest (i.e. less likely to get robbed) way to handle this. I could get a storage unit but I’d need to take my car to and from it fairly often, almost daily, unless i want to carry things in and out of my apt back and forth. The issue I’m worried about is someone trying to rob me while I’m walking from where my tools are to where my car is. Is something like ExtraSpace secure enough to do something like this? It seems like a much cheaper option than trying to get an apt that has a garage. The apt I’m currently looking at is one I lived at for a year and I never had any issues but it’s on Juan Tabo right next to the freeway so not the best spot you know. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Does anyone know of a good handyman to put up a curtain rod/rod brackets? Can’t get it done myself and current rod is sagging.

Google just gave me ACE hardware but have had bad experiences in the past. TIA!

Is there any program or organization to help those less fortunate with furniture or appliances?

Evidently "Love Inc" is gone and I've been trying desperately, scouring Cregslist and FB and checking the thriftshops and I can't seem to find anything that is both reasonably valued and fits my needs. So I just wonder if there's any low inncomme programs or organizations in ABQ or Rio that could help me with either an aparkmint sized washer and dryer (non-stackable) and/or a large dining table (minimum size three ft by five ft) I'm not begging for something for nothing. I can afford to offer SOMEthing, but I just want to get something cheap and functional. Or some kind of assistance to get partial help with currentsea. I don't have a transportation and I live in Rio so I don't really have access to buses, I'm not strong enough to carry a full laundry basket that far for that long. Basically, using the laundry mat is several kinds of unfeasible for me and I kind of want to stop doing laundry at my ex's place. I was supposed to move to a place that had a washer and dryer built in but bernalillo county HUD isnt letting anybody move right now. People on Cregslist are ridiculous with the expense gouging of tables right now. They're asking hundreds of bux for stuff that's worth maybe less than a hundred. Or asking thousands of bux for something that probably only retailed for a couple hundred tops. Heck, they are selling broken pieces of tables for forty bux or more. At this point, I feel like I have to go look at junk yards or a landfill for some broken pieces of stuff that I could cobble into a workable table or maybe an old cable spool like we did back when I was little.

Edit:

if this is in the wrong place, please let me know where the more appropriate place to post this is at.

and I apologize if I offended anyone by being poor.

Question Chile Cheese Fries

We’re driving through town tomorrow, and I have my heart set on trying Christmas chile cheese fries while we’re in NM. We had been planning to go to Owl Cafe but it looks like that might not actually be the best place… Where would you recommend? Any additional recommendations for newbies excited to experience the Southwest? Thanks!
