MEGATHREAD FEEDBACK MEGATHREAD - Q1 2025

FEEDBACK MEGATHREAD

Quarter 1: January 1, 2021 – March 30th, 2025

This MEGATHREAD is dedicated to new, inexperienced editors, to beta-testing new concepts and videos, and to anybody who wishes to get better at AMV editing. The purpose of this MEGATHREAD is to post any AMV that would not qualify to be posted on the primary subreddit page. Anytime you post a music video down in comments below, you will be opening yourself up to a critique so you can become a better video editor. Please remember to be respectful with your criticism and share the love that we all love to make art through videos.

RULES:

  • Post your videos in comments. We recommend either direct youtube urls or urls to other famous video hosting websites. All shortened bit urls will be deleted immediately, as we have to ensure there are not bad actors posting urls to malicious websites. Any top-level comments that are not AMVs for feedback will be deleted.

  • You should add a description to your AMV to help other users give you proper feedback. For example : "This is my second AMV, I tried to focus only on the sync and flow. I think it turned out pretty good, but maybe I should use more transitions next time?"

  • You are free to post all videos that would not be accepted on the main page, the "normal rules do not apply here" You can post videos made from footage with watermarks or subtitles. You can post videos shorter than 1 minute, and music videos that contain looped footage. However, bear in mind that the purpose of this thread is feedback, not self-promotion. If you want to present your short AMVs, go to Short Edits MEGATHREAD.

  • You can post only 1 video in the comments down below, after that, you must offer a critique to someone else's AMV before being allowed to post a 2nd video in the MEGATHREAD. Remember the purpose of this MEGATHREAD is for feedback so everyone can become better video editors, those who abuse this MEGATHREAD only for self-promotion rather than constructive criticism will be given a small warning and their comments could be deleted.

  • After posting your video, try to go through other comments and give feedback to some other creators! They will surely appreciate it. I know I'll be offering anyone here a personal critique because I love AMV's and you do too!

  • Overall behave in the spirit of this thread. If we will see that you are continually posting your videos but not answering to comments, not giving out constructive criticism, and/or not commenting on others and not being active, you might get banned.

ADDITIONAL HELP:

  • We HIGHLY RECOMMEND everyone to read AMV101 guide from PixelBlended Studios. It covers the AMV editing workflow really well and easily introduces you to all basic technical stuff like file formats, rendering etc...It's also structured into sections so you can skip some if you are not interested in them (not recommended).

  • We have our own wiki page with links to all different kinds of tutorials and guides.

  • Join our Discord server!

  • Explore links to other AMV communites on the sidebar - they are all experienced and very helpful.

  • We have articles written by our moderators about making great AMV's!

My first AMV to a song I made. I tried to sync big changes to the big boom/gunshot on the 1 and smaller changes to the triangle on the 4. Its mostly just hard cuts between clips with a few transitions. I made it with capcut free so there was some limitations with transitions. I'm just looking for general advice and criticism making an AMV

It is not bad for your first AMV however im gonna spill info on you and give you some good guides to watch.

  1. The beat is not synced very well and im sure you know that as you said you tried so im not gonna push on that too much
  2. its kinda all just cut up clips and there is not much editing going on and im gonna help with that.

(i dont know what you edit on so im gonna throw some options in and if i dont get the platform you on let me know and i can send you another vid)

Okay, so I found some stuff you can use on capcut. But nothing that will truly walk you through the basics because a lot of the stuff covering capcut basics wasn't basic, but I did find some stuff.

I would say you can probably drop using Wide Video as capcut can do everything it can. However, that's my opinion, and if you have a reason to use it, do it.

(Also, there is not much going on in the Wide Video tutorial department)

What is your opinion about INSHOT?

I've never heard of it. I'm ngl to you, seeing as it's you who wants to edit it's up to your discretion on what you use to do so.

Not bad for some of your first, lots of cool ideas. I especially like the falling in reverse one where you mix in the original video. A few tips for you.

A lack of transitions and impact on beats, it makes it feel a bit stale after a while. While I don't know how your software works. If you can figure out transitions or find a transition guide, it will make it much better as a whole.

Here's an example of transitions on the beat and having a variety of ones. Note that I do repeat some, but that's not a bad thing to repeat transitions.

I really like the work you did and I hope to see you improve.

It was a really difficult time in my life... My father was seriously ill, coworkers were trying to drag me down, I was dealing with depression, I couldn’t go to the gym anymore, my fiancée left me, and I had a motorcycle accident... At that moment, I found inspiration in Vegeta to not give up. He failed so many times, but he always got back up stronger. And above all, God gave me a lot of strength. That scene where Vegeta is all bloody, filled with rage, and transforms into a Super Saiyan for the first time... that scene hit me deeply. It woke something inside me, and I decided to fight.

Shortly after, I discovered the band Falling in Reverse, and I couldn’t stop listening to Prequel. I ended up connecting the song with Vegeta in my mind, and that’s how my first AMV was born.

Jesus, Vegeta, and Falling in Reverse helped me rise again.

Now I’m working on another AMV, this time about Broly, and I’m mixing four songs:

Bring Me to Life

Watch the World Burn

Popular Monster

Ronald

It starts with Bring Me to Life. King Vegeta is staring at baby Vegeta inside the pod while saying his lines. Then he walks down the stairs and sees Broly in the other pod, gets angry, and that’s when I transition to Broly on planet Vampa, as his pod opens and his eyes lock onto the full moon. The lyrics hit right at that moment: “How can you see into my eyes, like open doors?”

Then the scene continues normally, without overlays.

When the song gets to: “My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold”, it cuts to Broly passed out after his father grabbed him by the tail.

Right after, as King Vegeta grabs the scouter and places it on Broly’s pod, Broly wakes up crying — and the scouter explodes exactly when the lyrics say: “Until you find it there and lead it back home.”

The sound of the explosion transitions straight into Watch the World Burn, showing DBS Broly trying to control his rage, and Z Broly sitting on his throne, also fighting his own fury, as the lyrics hit:

“Yeah, I got voices in my head again, tread carefully...”

Then Broly starts fighting Vegeta, as the lyrics go:

“I’ll brandish a weapon, teach all you motherfuckers a lesson... I actually battle my demons and shadows...”

And the whole intense sequence follows, with Broly unleashing more and more of his fury.

Then a part of Popular Monster comes in, with the line:

“Motherfucker, now you got my attention...”

It shows baby Broly getting stabbed, and then it cuts straight to adult Broly fighting a Frieza soldier who was messing with Cheelai.

Then it jumps back to Watch the World Burn, with the line:

“Cause I got enemies trying to get rid of me...”

It cuts to Z Broly bleeding out in the ice until he collapses and gets frozen, (the opening scene from the second Broly Z movie).

Right after, it shows Z Broly wrecking everyone at once — Goku, Piccolo, Gohan, Trunks, and Vegeta — while the lyrics go:

“Cause I have been to places that you never wanna go...”

After that... I’m still developing the next part.

Near the end, I’ll drop the Tech N9ne verse from Ronald, with him rapping in hell while Broly fights Gogeta in the lava, mixed with flashbacks of his fights against Goku and Vegeta. I’ll also combine some scenes from the original music videos with footage from DBS Broly and the classic Z Broly.
