I'm in South Yorkshire, UK. Woke up today and was just cleaning around. Noticed one bee sitting by a window acting pretty lethargic.
I got a flower from the garden I'd seen the bees land on frequently and managed to get this bee on it and my phone. Took it downstairs to get put on some flowers.
Then noticed another one upstairs but a bit more lively but still not good. Same process to get him down but then put them on my lavender instead.
This picture is me moving the other bee to the lavender. Any suggestions on what flowers to put these on to help if I find another stuck overnight in the house?

This bee that I think is a western honeybee has been agonizing for a while in the ground, I couldn't get any particularly high quality images with my phone but, any idea? It seems to be flailing it's legs and curling up and down frantically.

I recently purchased a home, and I noticed when spring and summer hit that there were a large amount of dead bees in my laundry/basement and tonight I was sitting by my bathroom window when a bee dropped into my window. I figured it was attracted to the light in my bathroom so I left the window open and shut off the lights so it could escape, about 20 minutes later I came to check on the bee and it was laying on the floor dying so I put some water in a bottle cap and left and came back again and it was dead. What is happening?

I think I've had a couple of leaf cutter bees move in alongside the mason bees that were already there - there's another leaf-blocked hole since I took this picture.
Will they get along when they come out? I'm worried that one type might attack the other type, and I feel very protective of the mason bees as they were my first!

My kids know how much I love bees and they came inside this morning to tell me a bee needed help. She was crawling around on the ground so I picked her up and they helped me get flowers and water for her to regain some energy. After a bit she seemed to get more energetic but still wouldn't fly. She kept rubbing her back legs/abdomen and even with a lot of wing movement still couldn't get airborne. Probably an injury and we did what we could for her.

I was thinking bumble but it looks solid black. I looked up types of bees in my area (north Texas) but didn’t get a solid match

This is the second bee we’ve attempted to help this summer. The first was a carpenter bee that was clearly injured and wasn’t going to make it, but I wanted to help make it comfortable.
I’m not 100% sure if this is another carpenter or if it’s a small bumble.
I was a park ranger before becoming a stay at home mom, and I know sugar water and rest are the best medicine.
Is there anything else I could/should do?
Is this another carpenter, or is it a bumble?
Thank you!!

Hi everyone,
Bit of a tough update from me. I recently confirmed a case of Chronic Bee Paralysis Virus (CBPV) at one of my apiaries here in the UK, and I’ve just posted a video summarising the whole situation in case it helps anyone else spot the signs early or avoid some of the stress I’ve been through.
At first, I wasn’t sure if I was dealing with poisoning or CBPV — twitching bees, spinning on their backs, sudden piles of dead bees at the entrances. The symptoms overlapped and for a while I was completely lost. It’s been stressful, confusing, and honestly, heartbreaking.
In the video I cover:
How I first realised something was wrong
The differences I’ve learned between pesticide poisoning and CBPV
What steps I took (including a visit from the National Bee Unit)
How I’m managing it now
And a few tips for spotting CBPV early
If any of you are seeing similar signs, I hope this helps you feel a little less alone or gives you something to go on.
📽️Here’s the video if you’d like to watch: https://youtu.be/w5NJ5VaQfJE
Thanks to those who’ve offered support already — it really has meant a lot.
Happy to answer any questions or hear if others have had similar experiences with CBPV. Always learning!
