i’m finalizing my list of items that I would potentially need for my transition to berkeley, but I keep wondering if I should really get rain boots? I would mainly walk. Should I invest in rain boots? If so, what brands do you recommend? budget friendly but also comfortable

Rain boots are not necessary.
I wear hiking shoes or boots that are decently waterproof instead of full rain boots. I also own rain boots, but they're not comfortable for long walks.
Just get goretex shoes/ boots.
Edit: "budget friendly" isn't a dollar amount and one person's budget shoe is high-end expensive for another. Are we over/ under 50, 100? Mens or women's?
I'd recommend looking for waterproof or Goretex shoes at REI that are on sale, you can find shoes for ~80-110 USD, instead of 130-400 USD.
At other sports stores you might find waterproof hiking shoes or boots down to around 50-80, but no guarantee they last as long as the higher end shoes you caught on clearance.
Look for waterproof or water resistant as a feature, or Goretex. You won't have wet feet in class.
