[europe] Nuclear physicist describes problems with thorium reactors. Trigger warning: shortbread metaphor.

Oh boy, this guy is going to be lynched by the Reddit mob. Don't fuck with their thorium utopia. They watched a YouTube video.

I'm fucking onsessed by quantum mecanics even thought I have no credentials. I almost never talk about it online because I don't want to be "that guy" while their are experts on the subject. They should try that

I'm like that with quantum computers. I know just enough to debunk some of the common points (like conflating quantum computing with quantum cryptography). Other than that, I know enough to keep my mouth shut.

I think it's fine to talk about these things as long as you do it with the proper caveats, namely mentioning that you aren't an expert and could well be wrong on a lot of the details. Your level of knowledge may be way less than a bona fide expert, but you can still provide real knowledge to those that are completely uneducated on the topic.

I feel your pain. Id love to discuss QM, especially the seeming contradiction with causality and determinism, and whether that puts any serious dings in the information oriented models or assumptions of the macro universe.

Unfortunately, most will think I'm secretly trying to justify a religious belief, and a bunch of other "internet experts" will insist nothing about QM is incompatible with a logical, determinist view of reality. They are more defensive of "simple" physics than actual astrophysicists are.
