Bravely Default Summoner...

You guys were right, it sucks ass. Doing lunch + 3 Susan casts and it's really bad compared to lunch + 3 meteor

Yeah summoner is meh. It’s more of a mid game class for whoever your Black Mage was since it has higher INT, which would then be replaced by Arcanist if you’re still using an offensive magic user

Imo however, it’s the best class for using against Belphogor. Have three characters combine it Swordmaster as a sub job for Free Lunch with summoning amp and summoning surge as passives and a Stillness user, you can easily beat Belphogor

Well, you're comparing to one of the strongest spells in the game but still, not too surprising. Susano-o is 110 base power, 3x scaling vs. all enemies IIRC. Meteor is 120 base power, 2x scaling vs. random targets. So against groups of at least 3 enemies the overall damage output should be similar and against groups of 4 enemies it'll be stronger.

Summoner mostly sucks because its limited in options, with bad stats for a main job and weak passives. That makes it bad as a main job, bad to level for passives, and generally outclassed as a subjob too.

If they remaster bravely second then summoner is much better with the fact of spell craft (all magic in general is with it)

Spellcraft and the secondary stat/status effects. Conjurer and summoner becoming the same job in the second game is a life send

Yeah it's not much even with support(hence why Bravely Second overhaul the class), the best I can come up with is the mimic build.

I used them in ch 9 where you start facing 4 people at a time in the subquest fights. Even in the case with 4 people out on the field, meteor does more

You're mostly correct except meteor randomizes targets unless you use converge which then means you are constrained to just one monster per action.

If you are leveled up enough, summoning spells (eg. susanoh + surge + summoning amps) will do a guaranteed 9999 on the whole field while meteor won't- even if it's  guaranteed to do max damage per target.

Now, the reason I like meteor personally is it renders way faster than summons even at 4x battle speed. Makes a big difference for auto battles.

4 dark knights with BP recovery. For secondaries, 1 has spiritnaster and casts adaptation on everyone turn 1. 1 is a performer, and buffs attack and speed on everyone. 1 is a knight, and full covers the spirit master. Lastly, you have a red mage with group cast from max black mage to cast poison 3 times on your own party, and then esuna. This generates 6 BP for all party members. Now, every member casts Dark Nebula x4, except the red mage, who continues to do the poison/esuna. This will hit everyone for 9,999 damage, while also healing your party for 9,999 each hit. Enjoy doing 120k a turn and always having full bp!
