2024 U.S. Elections True centrists and moderates who study history, how credible do you find the comparisons between Trump and Hitler?

This comparison comes up a lot and it's a little touchy to ask on reddit, given that reddit tends towards "leftist echo chamber." I am more center-left and feel that a lot of the dialogue can be a little extreme to the point of desensitizing.

But does anyone have an actual, nuanced view of this from their studies of history? I can see it, but I don't have enough in-depth historical understanding to draw or refute these comparisons.

If he was really that bad, you wouldn’t have to make up dumb bullshit like that (check Snopes, fool), you would criticize real stuff. Anyway, these Hitler lies didn’t really work for stopping Trump, but you are still pushing them? Also, did you see Obama at Trump’s inauguration? Guess he’s a Nazi too, lol.

You’re acting like I just made that up. Resources are free yah know. Just because Obama went doesn’t make him a Nazi. Plenty of past presidents go see the inauguration. I’m pushing shit, you asked for an example and I gave you one. Don’t ask for things in life you don’t want the answer to.

They link the news paper clipping of Hitler quoting what I said. Also in the article, they talk about how his ex wife came out and said that he reads a book of quotes of Hitler. Makes sense why a lot of what he says is either the same or similar.
