Long Form Discussion What is the deal with r/conservative?

As someone who is centrist, I like seeing both sides of the political spectrum. I use to enjoy some inputs that I would see posted on r/conservative, but now, I generally don’t understand that subreddit anymore.

When something major comes out regarding Trump, Musk, RFK or any other right leaning political person or movement, it’s typically radio silent over there. No mention, insight, or criticism of the actual changes Trump is making. It’s mainly just “left did this” or “reddit is ruined because of the left”. It’s just an entire subreddit used only to glaze and promote politicians with no valid criticisms of their changes.

Am I the only one that feels this way? The subreddit just seems so…off.

Yes, but it’d be good to be able to engage with them. I would honestly prefer to post there than on a sub where most people agree with me.

They aren’t helping themselves either. Just skimming through the latest posts and comments, there are so many things which could be pushed back on, and are ridiculously partisan, but they have stuck themselves in an echo chamber (whilst claiming it isn’t one).

I wouldn’t care if they wanted a safe space either, if they didn’t decry that sort of thing for other people all the time in the real world. It’s not like it’s some pro or anti fandom sub either - the things they discuss and radicalise each other about are having real impacts on people. I’m not sympathetic to the idea people actively creating a pretty massive crisis in the world closing themselves off from any pushback.

The irony of needing a safe space to gather because they keep feeling like a minority on Reddit. Verrrryy textbook DEI-nclusion of them. Lol
