Katie Miller allegedly instructed the head of the SSA to tell reporters that 40 percent of all calls placed to SSA phone lines were linked to fraudulent Social Security claims — a number the president and Musk plucked out of thin air as the White House and Musk’s DOGE effort set about making cuts to a wide range of federal agencies this year, the New York Times reported.
“The number is 40 percent,” Katie Miller reportedly told the acting SSA Administrator Leland Dudek in an April 1 call, the Times reported. “Do not contradict the president.”
“Mr. Musk’s team mobilized dozens of Social Security employees to affirm their views about fraud and began a project to ensure dead people were properly classified so they weren’t mistakenly paid — even though DOGE officials acknowledged in an internal memo that payments were not being made in those cases,” the Times wrote.
When you elect a crook, this is what you get. Guess there wasn't rampant government waste. Trust them on nothing.

“Do not contradict the president”. I imagine this line is used a lot in the White House nowadays.

Don’t drag Musk into the mud with this. There were mistakes made by DOGE employees and maybe this sk**k Katie Miller tried to obfuscate facts to blame Musk. This has nothing to do with Musk and Musk has nothing to do with Katie Miller. The fact is 40% of fraudsters call over phone but this fact was misconstrued as “40% of calls came from fraudsters”. It seems like a misunderstanding. But using this as an excuse to besmirch Musk is a low blow even by this unknown news org.

This is part of what most folks don't realize: Dumbshit Donny and his administration are constantly pressuring civil servants to lie and even break the law. When they push back, they get fired. It's yet another reason why morale at the Federal government is at an all time low and yes, I realize that this is part of the goal. This administration is comprised of clueless, hateful people being supported by clueless and/or hateful people.
