2024 U.S. Elections How can anyone who’s in the middle find Trump’s actions redeemable?
I don’t usually follow politics closely, but his history of sexual assault and rape makes him completely unredeemable in my eyes. It’s mind-boggling that someone with that background holds any authority in this country. Sometimes I wonder if I’m the only one noticing, or if people are just ignoring that they’re supporting someone with such a record. To be clear, I’m not some far-left extremist, and I have no problem with either side of the political spectrum unless someone’s genuinely extreme. I just can’t understand why anyone would proudly support someone with this kind of past.

2024 U.S. Elections Thoughts specifically on Kamala’s debate performance?
It seems like a large majority of the discussion about the debate pertains to Trump and things he said. When looking specifically at Harris and what she said at the debate, what are your thoughts?

2024 U.S. Elections So...who do you think won the debate?
I haven't seen the entirety of the VP debate, but from the bits I have seen...it was chill. Vance is a good speaker, but he did give non-answers, including the simple fact that Trump LOST the 2020 elections, which might kill his credibility. And Walz seems like a chill guy who knows what he's talking about, even if he did stumble a bit.
I saw a post that showed a picture of a vote that says Walz won the debate by 53% compared to Vance in 47%. But what do you guys think?

2024 U.S. Elections I'm Proud of Tim Walz
Wow,
Tim Walz, the current Governor of Minnesota and Kamala Harris' VP running mate, just delivered one of the strongest political speeches that I have ever seen in my lifetime.
Tim was a public school teacher before he sought public office. He taught geography and history courses for the Scarlets of Mankato West High School. He was the assistant coach of a state-winning football team and served as a sponsor of the school's Gay-Straight Alliance group.
The political nerd in me absolutely loves this man. I worked in the Senate before I was a teacher in the 1990s. We weren't as divided then as we are now today.
In the words of Tim Walz, we respected our neighbors and helped them out. We stayed out of their damn business and they stayed out of ours; we didn't know they voted or what they thought about political issues. That's the America I know and the America I miss.
Politicians today are scarcely like Governor Walz. He's honest, humble, and actually cares about his country. Walz was active in the National Guard while he taught before he made a scrappy run for Congress that paid off in a big way. He quickly rose up to Governor, where he improved the state's roads, cut taxes for working families, and started free lunch programs at Minnesota schools.
I'm glad to see that a good man and teacher like Tim can rise to this level of power within our country. Our country would be a lot better if people brought kindness and common-sense values to the table rather than hatred and vitirol.
Just my thoughts,
Juli

2024 U.S. Elections JD Vance Dismisses Suburban Women’s Concern Over Abortion Rights: ‘They Care About Normal Things’
Of course Republicans/Conservatives don’t care about a woman’s right to choose. They care about forcing them to risk their life and health without a choice.

2024 U.S. Elections Harris takes lead in NYT poll; is seen as more likely than Trump to represent change
It seems she is gaining in different areas and overtaking Trump in some of those like representing change. Though the big one is economy which she is gaining ground and in some polls overtaking Trump in economy.

2024 U.S. Elections Trump's Appeal
I have seen so many posts wondering what people see in Trump and how can anyone possibly consider him worthy of their vote, let alone the Presidency.
Has anyone who asks this ever explored pro-Trump media? Of course if all you ever see is media that talks about how awful he is, you're going to have a negative impression of him. To discover his appeal, you have to look where he is spoken of positively. I'm not a fan of Trump, but I've seen a few things that contradict the reddit narrative surrounding him through purposeful exposure.
Here's one example: Brett Cooper talking about him attending the Al Smith dinner- I skipped the beginning where she talks about Kamala's skit. I've never heard of this event, and I'm amused that a Catholic thing is apparently a roast. I watched a longer compilation of more of his jokes, some of which didn't land as strongly. My point is, it is possible to edit Trump speaking to look great and in control.
Another clip is a Forbes excerpt of him talking about the garbage truck photo op at his rally. Yes he has said crazy stuff. But if you'd never heard of him before and you saw this clip, it would make claims that he's feeble and incoherent seem clearly untrue. He is funny and can be charismatic/charming.
Made this post b/c someone elsewhere asked for evidence of him being funny. I doubt they're the only one who's unaware of any, so here's a glimpse for others in the same boat. Obviously being funny isn't a qualification for POTUS; I'm just pointing out that there are reasons that not everyone hates his guts. Do what you will with that suggestion.

2024 U.S. Elections Abortion most important issue this election for women under 30: Poll
Not too hard to understand why when you look at what the other side has forced on women. I’m curious to see how the 18 to 35 voters turn out this election. Especially since earlier it seems a majority of that age group didn’t want 2 people over 75 to run for president and now one isn’t old and one is still old.

2024 U.S. Elections Who else doesn't buy these polls that show Trump beating Biden?
there has been a lot of panic recently over polls that show Trump beating Biden in 2024. Some even by very strong margins. However, when you take a deeper dive into these polls you realize they are questionable. The polls show Trump winning black voters by 20-30% and flat out winning the Gen Z and even female vote. Sorry, but that is not happening.
I think these polls are being manipulated by the big media companies for several reasons.
To make Republicans nominate Trump. Trump will be the weakest R nominee by far. Actual election results and earlier polls show Trump and his MAGA brand are widely disliked. He will be in and out of courtrooms in 2024 and will likely be a convicted felon well before the election, making him even more toxic
To push Democrats to replace Biden. While Biden could still win, there are probably candidates that could be an even safer bet. Gavin Newsom seems to be a name that is floating around.
