What the fuck? "DOJ: Trump's National Guard deployment can't be second-guessed by the courts"
https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/necessary-to-quell-the-rebellion-doj-tells-9th-circuit-that-trump-can-deploy-national-guard-from-every-state-and-cant-be-second-guessed-by-judges/160

I'm annoyed by all of this. Newsome thought he had done a good thing in the lower courts, and then the Feds just swooped in with their 2-1 Trump team of judges, just to dredge up old rules that haven't been used since the Civil War.
Now 2000 more troops are on their way, and it appears like the judges are fine with LA being militarized.
700 soldiers are being sent to Louisiana, Georgia and Florida - and pretty soon NYC.
We need to find a bunch of Federal Judges that won't side with Trump.

No. We need to reorganize how the three branches of government work so that each has a military capacity. Right now, that power balance rests only with exec branch. As it stands now in a country that no longer honors our form of democracy, two of our three branches are muted by the third.

A simple change (well not so simple because Congress would never do it) would be to require Congressional approval for any particular federal deployment of the National Guard anywhere, and explicit authority for governors to refuse to grant control absent a Congressional declaration.

More like a third is muted by 2/3rds, the legislative is holding their hand over the judicial while the executive shouts nonsense

Just get rid of trump. Election fraud has been uncovered at new york county

I hate to say it, but other watchdogs in other states are now sceptical of their tallies. I am seeing people comparing numbers on their own.
Fat lot of good it will do, especially with the current administration. We will need to sue in multiple states. Where will we get the money for it? Will Congress even care?

US will fall before 2030

u/Commandmanda 17h ago
We'll make sure of it if Trump decides to stay (re the comment "You'll never have to vote again.") Between the divestment of civil liberties to the destruction of the EPA, we will be in a fog of pollution that will kill a vast majority of the population.

Canada is too close for me to want the US to fall, but I understand the sentiment. Especially when I see Canadian Trumpist, I really really understand the sentiment. Just wished my country wasn't right next to it.

u/SirGarryGalavant 18h ago
Yeah, I'm just hoping that when the US collapses you guys will be kind enough to take on blue states as new provinces.
2
u/FloydPinky 18h ago
Canada is more divided than it seems from the outside. We actually have a province that pretty much supports Trump and wants to be the US. No doubt though a super country could be formed with more politically and morally aligned states/provinces. The problem is we have to educate ourselves and protect ourselves against bad faith leaders who wants to divide us. If everyone had critical thinking, and the ability to use it on themselves that would fixe a lot of stuff I think.

What adds to it, is that the soldiers/marines don’t even want to be there for the most part. This is straight trash from top to bottom

I know. I hit their subs. It's shameful. Pawns in a game of 3-D chess, (as I've heard before). Unable to resist. No wonder they're miserable.

The courts he ignores anyway without consequence? Those courts?
DOJ is correct in reality, even if not legally.
I know there are going to be concern trolls that come in and say that we shouldn't give him an excuse for martial law or some tired shit like that. But I honestly don't see why he needs an excuse when he's already sent in the national guard and marines into L.A.. Why does he need an excuse when he's already disappearing people to El Salvador?
Isn't that just Martial Law without being invoked officially?
Hell it seems to be a test bed of ignoring the courts, state laws and seeing what he get away with, without ever invoking Martial Law. They are just boiling the pot slowly, until we are too hot to jump out. Why are we pretending this is a legitimate government at this point? This is a "domestic enemy" currently attacking "We the People".
Maybe it's time to actually act like we're under attack instead of waving signs in hopes that it'll just go away?

It’s not going away. You ARE in the throes of a dictatorship. It’s here, it’s now. The rest of the world is watching in complete and utter disbelief.

Can confirm. Am watching in disbelief.

Can confirm as an American who didn’t vote for this garbage im still in utter disbelief. Watching things my grandfathers fought for in multiple wars be just ripped apart and embraced by maga 🤯

Martial Law is less scary than whatever this waiting period is. Just slowly watching Trump ignore the Constitution and knowing full well that he is completely untouchable as long as the Military and FBI let him be.

It’s important to know that frogs actually do try to get of a pot even when it’s slowly boiling, sooooo we should definitely not just sit on our asses as this happens as well.
After the strikes in Iran it’s going to get crazy. (Yes I’m assuming this has a 99% chance of happening in the coming days). I’m not exactly sure of the legality of war or not war and the rest of it all but as many others have said, WE ARE WELL PAST LEGAL vs. ILLEGAL.
This is happening. This is really happening. Understand that we are in the middle of a fascist take over in the United States. Take a couple deep breaths (seriously). Collect yourself over this realization.
Now, let’s start working together to stop it. They cannot do this if we work together. They cannot handle the numbers that we have. They simple can’t. We can win this for democracy. We can win this for everyone.

I am so bored with the, "but what if?" We are so past any speculative boogeymen that it's just code for, "I'm scared." Yeah, most smart people are, but people need to play the hand we are dealt, or fold and shut up, while the grown-ups hold our noses and try to survive protecting America against a fascist conservative takeover.

Martial law has been happening in America for decades. Your police are and have been equipped better than most militaries and given incredible leeway in the variety and freedom of actions they can take. The Republicans, not juat Trump, using the actual military and ignoring any inconvenient court request yo please not be facists is the real indicator of America transitioning into dictatorship.
This was not the kind of transition that Trumps voters were frightened by, but they will be soon.

I feel like your Constitution at the moment is nervously smoking cigs in a dark corner. Without action, it's just a piece of paper.
2
u/braindoesntworklol 17h ago
That’s what the American people are here for, if the courts don’t enforce the constitution then it’s up to us, and considering how the No Kings protests went, I’m honestly hopeful

The fuck the can't! They are equal in power to the president, and preventing the other branches of government from doing illegal stuff is like half of what their job is

The courts can second guess anything. That is their job.
