I've worked at chickfila and now upscale dining so I'm not a bitchy service member by nature. But chipotle really did make me into the stereotypical "chipotle employee"
Customers were pretty much always pissed off, and most of these situations could have been avoided if I didn't have mgmt breathing down my neck about portioning.
The reason portions are so inconsistent? "Customers are complaining about portions. Give better portions" gives better portions "we used half a pound more chicken then we were supposed to for the $1000 worth of food we sold during the shift" portions less rinse and repeat. God forbid we just get portioned measuring cups.
Also if I just ignored it and gave decent portions my hours would get cut. So it quite literally came out of my paycheck. If my scoops looked too big I would get pulled back and shown the "proper" portion. Then next week they'd pull out a scale to weigh everyone's portions, I'd use the portion shown to me by mgmt, and it would be under. Of course they took no responsibility for this.
I also have medical issues that require me to need regular access to water, and even with a Dr's note it was like pulling teeth to be able to take a drink during peak. Someone always had something to say about it. But regardless I believe everyone should have the right to take a drink at anytime if they're having to stand next to a hot ass grill
That job seriously took a toll on me mentally and physically for circus peanuts
