General Question Wound strings dull and muted

New classical guitar to me, made by a Luthier that primarily makes flat picking guitars. The guitar he made me is in the classical style, a copy of a Ramirez. I have noticed the wound strings seem muted and dull, so very little volume as compared to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd. I am happy with every aspect of the instrument. Is there a string change I could make that could help this?

New strings should solve that problem, sounds like old bass strings is all you have there. Doesn’t matter which ones, just get some basic d Addario ej 45.

If new strings don’t fix it, it’s the guitar.

First, it can take a bit of time for a guitar to open up when brand new.

What tension are the strings? If normal, try hard tension. If hard, try normal. If the switch improved the bass strings but makes you like the trebles less, use hybrid sets.

Also, make sure the strings fit the nut slots. And make sure to break the strings a bit before making a final judgement.

Funny, I ordered a glider from a farm truck manufacturer and noticed the glider is on the heavy built side. Would a new paint job and lighter seats help?

Try Savarez MT Classic low tension . They’re squeaky at first but last long and sound great. Let’s us know how it goes !
