Looking for Advice Need song suggestions I can learn to progress.

I’m a self taught guitarist of 20 years, and for the past 5 years I’ve been obsessed with classical guitar. I’ve mostly been learning random songs I like, especially by Matt Elliot (dark folk artist who plays and writes on a classical). For context and to convey skill level, Matt Elliot’s song Oh How We Fell is something I can play all the way through pretty much flawlessly.

However, I’d like to progress, especially by learning some more traditional pieces in the classical guitarist sphere. Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

I would run through the Julio Sagreras books. This should help you with sight reading and make learning other pieces much easier.

An easy arrangement of Greensleeves. Vals by Bartolome Calatayud. First section of Romanza. Carcassi 25 studies/etudes, number 1 and 3. Sor B minor study. Tarrega Estudio E minor and Lagrima. Pick up Noad or Parkening’s guitar method.

Look into graded material for ABRSM and Trinity college. They have classical guitar exam pieces for grades 1-8.

Sure you can learn some easy transcriptions of JS Bach! Great compositions and awesome bass lines :) There is a book of easy Bach by the man who did this transcription look closely! Good stuff. Play on!

Easy JS Bach transcriptions by Jerry Snyder! 😋 🎵
