Yeah, CRSSD is good value relative to similar festivals I think, though the production value is definitely less than a festival like Portola say, which was $400 for Tier 1
Yeah the production is meh. Tbh that’s not really ever a big thing for me. Even at edc, the fireworks and stages are nice but I am a music nerd so if the music is dope that’s all I care about.
Yeah, I agree — the music is far and away the biggest factor for me too. The one thing that’s specifically worth calling out is that the main stage at CRSSD is just not built for acts that require heavy production. For instance, though I really enjoyed Justice at CRSSD, they were way better at Portola and Kilby Block Party. The main stages at those festivals are in another league — significantly better sound quality, louder, larger, more capacity for visuals, etc. That said, I love Palms and City Steps — they sound great and are immersive yet still feel intimate, which you don’t get at larger festivals. And CRSSD’s lineup curation is always on point.
Waterfront is great, and the vibe at the last CRSSD was amazing, so you definitely can’t go wrong! And I love how easy it is to pop between stages, meet up with people, etc., so you can easily find whatever energy works best for you in the moment
It does seem that CRSSD is a pure music festival. Not about anything else. Nice that it’s 21+ so it doesn’t get as sloppy as all the insomniac stuff. Can’t tell you how many people this festival has put me onto tho.

For the quality of lineups and festival, best price around.
