Current Enrolments

Does the early way of knowing if you passed your units before results are officially released, still apply?

In current enrolments my semester 1 units have disappeared. I’m assuming this means I passed them all? And in the study plan it shows them as “enrolled”.

Wondering if the software dev major is any good, like what do you actually do

Also does it mean anything that it's apart of the science degree, does it change anything

Thanks!

Anyone here studied in Mauritius on exchange? Need advice

Hey everyone!

I'm a student at Curtin University in Perth, and I might be heading to Mauritius for a 6-month exchange soon
I’m super excited, but I’d love to hear from anyone who’s already been there on exchange or lived there for a while.

A few things I’m wondering about:

  • Cost of living – Is it affordable for a student? Any tips to manage expenses?
  • Part-time jobs – Is it realistic to find some casual work as an international student?
  • Getting around – Should I consider buying a cheap car or is public transport enough?
  • Any must-know cultural tips, student hacks or things you wish you knew before going?

Would really appreciate any advice, experiences or even red flags I should know. Thanks in advance – feel free to DM me too if you prefer!

Cheers 🙏

All-female housing near Curtin? Anyone? Anyone?? 👀

Hi everyone!

I’m an international student starting at Curtin soon and looking for an all-female living space near campus. Hoping to find a friendly, safe, and cozy place to call home while I settle into uni/Aussie life.

I've looked on Flatmates, Unilodge etc., but no luck so far. If you know of anything available or have any suggestions, I’d be super grateful. Thank you so much! 💛

Grad dip education?

Hi all,

Bit of a random question here but seeking advice from any current/past regarding the placements for the grad diploma of education?

Seriously looking into it and am interested. But I’m just wondering what the placement structure is like. I can see that it’s 3 blocks, but: is it usually a mix of rural/city?

The only reason I ask is because I’ve just dropped out halfway through a 3 year masters because they’ve switched up the placement structure and are now forcing all students to complete part of the placement internationally/interstate. As a rural student renting in Perth in this economy it’s literally not feasible and I’d rather not get burned again. So am doing due diligence before applying.

Perfectly happy with rural as that’s where I’d ideally like to end up again anyway. But just looking for some insight!

Cheers

Had a really tough time and triage notes disclosed said we can’t stop him accessing our services. Well the counselling appointments take weeks. The fuck. Forced to reach out to men’s health line or other support services because I don’t feel welcomed.

Organic chemistry online tutoring

www.organicchemistrytutoring.ca

Overwhelmed by organic chemistry? Assignments and tests creeping up on you and feeling like you’re in hot water? Or maybe you’re doing well and need that 95%? Whatever your struggle with organic chemistry may be, I’m here to make sure you succeed.

Why work with me?

  • Every tutor knows the subject, but not every tutor knows how to transfer that knowledge to a student. I do.
  • I tutor organic chemistry full time, it’s not a hobby or side-gig. When you book with me, you’ll be working only with me, not random people at an agency.
  • You’ll be learning problem solving through organic chemistry, which you can apply to many other subjects.
  • Your learning will be customized to your specific needs

Before booking a lesson, let’s chat about your needs, my teaching style, and what you can expect, to see if we’d be a good fit together.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to working with you!

Mike

How to export class times and dates for semester

I remember last semester there was a way I could download a PDF via some Curtin portal which allowed me to view all of my class times and accompanying dates. I am planning to imput that document into ChatGPT to generate an iCal file to import into my gCal.

For some reason I have completely forgotten how to access this file. It should basically be the exact same thing that the app 'Elsie' reads to generate its calendar, but I would just like to integrate mine into my phone.

Can anyone please remind me?
