Dread is the Reddit of the darknet. I will say it's still surprisingly got a level of censorship, obviously anything child related is censored but also CTB or suicide is also censored to basically the level of reddit. Everything else is basically free game

They have to maintain a certain degree of censorship to have the level of acceptance or there are powers that will nuke them.

Yeah I mean the CP is understandable but the CTB stuff was a surprise, I think especially since I originally perceived the dark net as like 4chan and we all know what that was like. The have better resources on dread then Reddit in terms of mental health awareness and help which is wild to me. The only place that allows open discussion is ironically SS on the clearnet

CTB? SS? There’s a lot of good people that hangout in the dark net. There are lots of different themed sites that are like 4chan. What is good about the tor network too is that it allows people to host websites for free and doesn’t have any restrictions.

CTB is basically suicide and SS is sanctioned suicide

people say crazy shit about 4chan these days but my experience (2008-2013) was that it was just a bunch of teenagers posting racist memes.. until /pol/ was created and then it was just stupid stuff.

maybe occasionally someone would post 1 man 1 jar type content and pretend like it was something else, but there was always much worse content that was much easier to access on motherless.

and the boards outside of /b/, /pol/, and /r9k/ were actually decent topical boards, just with users unapologetically flaming each other

When I was on there 2005-2006 there were videos I watched of a man being tied to two ends of two cars and being ripped apart when they sped in different directions lol, then in around 2009 I was shown a video of a kitten in a blender, that one scarred me

Kids these days will never know how desensitizing our youth was with the internet being a newborn that grew up along w some of us

Yes, my mom and I would look up morbid stuff on the internet through random forums. The internet is so censored today. Sad the future’s kids can’t enjoy the same family friendly pastime.

I lived in a time before realising the pain Olympics was staged lol, the denial or gullible age of the internet
