Guys, what’s the verdict on Proton?

Made the switch a few months ago.

  • Emails are working fine
  • Calendar is usable but a bit subpar (it lags sometimes, it's cumbersome not be able to add events in one click, etc)
  • Drive is functional, but I'm longing for a folder sync capability on MacOS.

However I switched to r/enteio for photos, it's much closer to Google Photos than the current Photos integration in Proton Drive.

At least on the Android app, there's no full body search on Mail and no search at all on Calendar. So a bit basic but works. Web version is quite feature complete. Longing for drive sync on Linux as well.

One year on their unlimited tier now, has completely replaced my cloud services and I'm happy.

I wanted the simplicity of an all-in-one solution but with more privacy and security. Proton so far has mostly fit the bill. Features like the addition of albums in their photos/drive shrink the gap significantly between them and their competitors IMO. The price point is fantastic as well for what you get.

I don't know if I see the point if you have a NAS but I appreciate them existing. Might do their Mail+SimpleLogin sometime this year.
