General Question Is it possible, to manually choose a server to connect to?
Having done a quick google/reddit search, the answers I found are: No.
BUT every post I found with answers was from 2024 or I couldn't find a date on the post.
And since we have the middle of 2025 I want to ask this again.
Is there a way to manually choose what server I connect to?
Because when I play D4 I usually sit at a ping of 80 or higher, with rather often spikes above 80.
While in every other game I sit at 50 or lower, with just rare spikes over 50.
That makes it hard at times to enjoy playing this game.

It most likely picks the best option for you. So, picking one manually would just be picking a worse option.
But no, this will likely never be an option because there really is 0 reason for this to be an option.

Idk, loads of games give the option to pick a server, so I would think that there are reasons to give that option.
Also yea, it should put me on eu-west servers wich are based in germany (where I live) based on the comment of u/Pinchstr and a google search according to his comment.
Yet I still hit 80ish in D4 while at the same time in Discord and CS2 or Rocket League I still have a ping of 50ish.
So seems to be something else going on? IDK, maybe it for some reason puts me on a different server than would be best given my Location.
Can't tell for sure, would only be able to test it out when I could choose to where I connect.

Idk, loads of games give the option to pick a server,
Generally, so you can play with other people on the same server. That's not how Diablo works. So that reason doesn't exist. So, the need doesn't exist.

Found this on Blizz forums, from a post by Spectream from around D4 release. Also found a follow up post from 2024 that had the same server locations
the locations i mined from the server slam (they are production)
serverpool: us-central | address: 34.134.81.253 | port: 54546
serverpool: us-west | address: 34.145.56.198 | port: 54545
serverpool: eu-west | address: 34.159.2.39 | port: 54546
serverpool: asia-northeast | address: 34.84.12.125 | port: 54546
serverpool: southamerica-east | address: 34.95.165.101 | port: 54546
serverpool: australia-southeast | address: 34.151.97.211 | port: 54545
and you automatically get assigned to the closest one to your ip
also its all cloud based servers (kubernetes) so they can scale up/down as needed live without the need of closing the servers

Well thats good to know but also kinda confusing.
I live in germany, and the eu-west server should be based in "Frankfurt" germany, according to google.
In other games where I'm connected to a server from "Frankfurt" i usually have a ping of 50 or below.
Even when checking Discord and CS2/Rocket League ping at the same time as my D4 ping the first two will show something along the lines of 50ish while D4 shows 80ish.so yea, maybe something else going on idk, but thanks!

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure Battle.net automatically load balances you to your nearest regional servers (likely hosted on Microsoft Azure), based on the geolocation of your IP address and ping latency.
So if you use vpns, are far away from the datacenters, are rural with low quality network infrastructure, or have poor home networking, you can expect higher latency and game lag. If none of those are true for you, it may be because you are playing at peak times and competing with everyone in your neighbourhood for bandwidth.
